Whose sacrifice is needed

This afternoon I was listening to a political advertisement about a man with Parkinson's Disease asking people to vote for the Democratic candidate because they approved of embryonic stem cell research. Now I happen to know that adult stem cell research does work but there has never been a case of embryonic stem cell that worked. http://www.stemcellresearch.org/ http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/articles/winter01/stem_cell.html http://www.stemcellresearchcures.com/AdultStemCell.html So the question I am asking, why is there so much silence on the success of adult stem cell research? Do they think that their life is more important than a future life? What is the reason for this?

Thank you for the links! It always helps to have solid information on which to base an opinion. The reason, I believe, is to try to make abortion seem less evil. After all, how can you be against someone if they can save the life of someone else through this research? (Even though they've never done it yet and they've destroyed the lives of countless babies.)

interesting links. apparently somebody or some grp of people has managed to silence the press or scientists so that not much about adult stem is brought up. the man you mentioned probably doesn't know much about it due to the lack of exploitation, or he probably knows and yet to choose to focus on his own life. politicians are too busy promoting their own agendas, they may not even know there is such a thing called adult stem research, let alone to know it's a successful one. but now anyone that reads this would know, and let's hope some common sense still lingers.

I hope all those people who are for embyronic stem cell research and do not realize that it kills the future little humans join myLot and also ask about how successful adult stem cell research is. When I was trying to get pregnant, there were more abortionist doctors then fertility doctors in my city, and now with those who are for embyronic stem cell research encouraging abortion, it does look bad.

The adult stem cell does work, there has been many successes. So far the embyronic stem cell research has resulted in a big fat zero. So how many embyros should be destroyed, 10000, 10, 000,0000, 500,000, 000? What happens when that replies? Do they go and tell women only two children to replace and the rest go to research? Do they decide who can have a child, the good women? The highly intelligent? If you can keep a house neatly and are a perfect sewer? So embryonic stem cell research does not just damage the embryo. It damages our future.

Because where Adult stem cell research saves lives, embryonic stem cell research may save abortion rights. I doubt there is much the abortion rights crowd won't sacrifice, apparently it isn't women's rights they are interested in.

I think they want to have a good excuse for abortions. It is worse than what was done years ago advocating adoption even for those who were going to be married and wanted to keep their baby. But in this case, there would be no baby and no happy couple getting a new little human to love. In this case, everyone loses.

Does anyone recall the uproar over the couple that had a baby to save the life of their older child? It has been quite a number of years ago and people accused the couple of not really wanting the baby except for, I believe, a bone marrow transplant. As far as I know, both girls are alive.

Sounds hypocritical. There is no uproar on killing an embyro to do research on a cure for Parkinson's Disease, but when you actually let that embyro develop, and eventually go out the birth canal and survive to save the life of one of your children, and both children live, because of a bone marrow transplant, oh you are the most horrible person there is. I heard about that uproar. But I am sure the parents wanted their daughter to have a baby sister and they wanted the baby so much, but were worried that the new baby would get the same cancer as their daughter.

The problem with politicians making any decisions about stem cells is that they have no clue what they are talking about. Most of them are lawyers who have not studied biology recently. Consequently, their personal knowledge is less based on science and more based on the far right politics.

You are deluded. The embyronic stem cell research that ties with the right of women to have abortions for any reason is not far right politics. It is far left politics. Most right leaning politics are usually for family values, church and morality. I am for adult stem cell research because it does not involving killing a new life and I am not a leftist in any sort of the way.

i agree, but yet we have the politicians deciding whether we as woman are going to make good decisions about having abortion. i believe that it should be an individual decision. Do they believe that women are so stupid they we are going to kill the population.

...it's one o' those twilight zone thingies that I just cannot for the life of me figure out.. {But now that you mention sacrifice, that's the oldest religions, always involved a sacrifice, often human! or child! Didn't make any sense then (was just cruel & horrific) doesn't make any sense now.. I think nowadays, if you repeat something enough times, true or not, everyone believes it.. so one of today's mantras is we need embryonic stem cells and those who disagree are inhumane.. Yah, that's it. Can you believe it? What mind boggling irony.

I am not really sure. I guess they are just wanting to live for now and will worry about the future later when they get to feeling better.

It is to promote the liberal abortion policy - and that is IT. Embryonic stem cell is only there to support abortion.

I find it hard that they want to put all their money into something that does not work, and I fear that if it is not stopped that they will put pressure on women to donate their embryos or may decide who can have their babies survive until birth. I fear for the future unless the truth that Adult Stem research is better is broadcast.

As I once saw a bumper sticker - "Abortion is human sacrifice to the God of convenience" Embryonic stem cell is an attempt to justify abortion.

Good for you suspenseful, I have often wondered that too..There has been no proof that they can not use the adult stem cells in any of the research..Yet they continue to use what could be a beautiful baby to do their dirty work..When I vote, I always vote for life, because why would I want to do harm when it is not necessary...

Yeah, most people in politics have no idea what they really believe in, because they are deceived..

There isn't much publicity about adult stem cells because the pro "choice" people want another excuse to kill unborn babies. At least, that's what I think. Life is cheap to them, a baby is just a collection of cells and if we can use them to improve an adult's life, it justifies the murder.

I cannot understand why someone near the end of their life wanting to sacrifice the future lives on this planet. That sounds so horrible. I mean if they supposed adult stem cell research there is less chance of rejection. I mean we are starting to store the cord that attaches the mother to the new born infant now. That contains all the cells necessary so why cannibalize that of a unborn baby that is no relation?
