When you were to lazy or to tired to cook? Or maybe really hungry and needed something quick. I just had a TV dinner and it was not the greatest, and it left me feeling a little hungry. Or perhaps I should have bought a better brand than Banquet brand. So how many out there like tV dinners, and do you eat a lot of them?

I don't often eat TV dinners but I do buy a few to keep on hand on those nights I really am feeling lazy and don't want to cook as I usually cook from scratch and make everything homemade. Urgh..I never cared for Banquet..LOL...yes they are cheapies and can do in a pinch but I just don't care for them.
I used to do a lot of Mexican style cooking...but since it's only me now, making homemade tamales, homemade empanadas, etc...well lets put it this way I'd be eating a lot of Mexican food for a long time...LOL..so in a pinch will get the Swanson Mexican dinner...not too bad..LOL
I just might start doing some of that again...the idea of making large batches of a type of food, like Manacotti or Lasagna, portion it out and freeze...then I would have my own homemade frozen meals

Yeah, I do the same. I portion homemade food and freeze it. It is so much
better for you than the store bought food.
I don't bake in the summer either. It heats the house up too much.
In fact I have been thinking of meals to bake since the weather has turned
considerably cooler now.
Homemade soups are a snap to freeze, also. A big pot of Veggie or Bean Soup and
the left-overs freeze nicely for another day.

I might make my homemade lasagna in a few weeks...when I get my benefits again...kind of low in funds....but now that's it's getting cooler can put the oven back on again...that oven stayed off all summer

I remember when Swanson and Banquet came out - well at least when I was a kid, and wanted one of those really neat little dinners and we never got to have them! I would have killed for a tv dinner on a tv table in front of the tv!! We didn't have any of those things but I had heard about them from the other kids!!!
Once in high school, when mom would get them for 4/$1.00 we'd have them and it was the coolest thing ever!!! Back then they were in alumium "trays" and you had to put them in the oven for 35 minutes!
But those two although still really good, are not the healthiest of varieties.
and don't have much to them to get full on unless you have a very small appetite. But when they go on sale for a dollar...hard to pass them up if you are counting pennies.
I try to buy the Marie Calenders when they are on sale for 4/$10. But recently tried the Lean Cuisine when they were 2/$5 and they were pretty good and filling.

agree with you coffeebreak...the MC meals are great..i really like the one that has three different pastas in it but i won't buy them unless they are on sale....Lean Cuisine is good and i have found a few Healthy Choice meals that aren't bad...my favorite though is the Smart Ones turkey and mashed potatoes!

I LOVE the MC chicken pot pies - the absolute best! Lots of big chicken chunks and a good chicken sauce. I buy them when they are on sale for 4 or 5 for $10. My 2,1/2 year old grand daughater loves the carrots and peas from them! She won't touch them if I make them seperately, no matter how much butter I add! But she demands them from the pot pie, I think it is htat chicken sauce that gives them a better taste. But it is a nice lunch for us -she eats the peas and carrots (I don't like peas but do like the carrots but let her have them) and I eat the chicken and a few carrots and that great crust!!!
Salsbury steak is another favorite of mine.

It's been a long time since I have served TV dinners to my family. I do happen to like the banquet brand. When I did serve the TV dinners we only did the chicken. Any others seem to be so artificially flavored. I do may my own now because of the family's schedule be so different. It is so much easier to pull one serving of any thing out of the freezer and heat up. I heat them up on the top of the stove instead of heating the oven.

I thought the chicken tasted odd, but I did like the BBQ pork dinner before when I had it.

I have not ate a TV diner in a long time. I used to love them back in my single days. Back when I could buy 15.00 worth of groceries and it would last me all week lol. The last time I had one it didn't taste as good as I remember not fill me up as much. My husband said even the hungry Man doesn't fill him up But I bet it would fill me up better than some of the others.

I hardly EVER eat frozen dinners but I actually really like SmartOnes dinners. they taste really good and are pretty low in calories too. I dont know if you care about that... some people dont. But, in that case, if you're still hungry, they are low cal enough that you can have something with it. I love the vegetable lasagna. :-)

I don't eat tv dinners but I have bought them for my husband before because he likes them . Mind you there is not much in them so I have to make three of four for him to leave him feeling like he at least ate something . It is not often I buy them for the simple fact that he has to eas so many of them to be able to feel like he had a meal and they are not cheap :)

I will keep a couple in the freezer for an emergency meal but they never ever fill me up. On-Cor makes pretty good frozen dinners.

i like certain kinds of tv dinners...and we eat them a few times a week...i work until 1 p.m. so it is something quick, easy and not to filling so when dinner time rolls around i'm still hungry...the most i have spent lately on one is about $1.50 so it's not too bad...

i don't really care for them. they have some okay ones and the brownies are usually good lol but other then that i don't really like them. i think fresh food taste so much better...

I to would much rather have fresh food, but sometimes after a long day I like having something quick, just wish I could afford a better brand than Banquet.

I have a hectic schedule. So, getting TV dinners is a good and quick way to feed the family. I don't eat alot of them, per say, but they are there if we need them. I do have to say that the Banquet brand isn't the best brand out there. There are so many other brands that are better and do fill you up.

I know Banquet is not the best brand, wish I could afford a better brand, I do sometimes when they have a really good sale.
