The Official Mascot, a leopard, has been designed and produced exclusively in the host country. The name is a composition of "ZA", standing for South Africa, and "kumi"standing into "10" in various languages across Africa. Inspired by his football idols, Zakumi has dyed his hair green as he felt it would be the perfect camouflage against the green of the football pitch.

well noone really pays attention when it comes to a world cup... if its a well organized cup and with good games as in WC2006 it would be memorable... if not then we would start paying attention to other things like mascots :P My Favorite mascots are the one in italy and the one in france these are the mascots that come to my mind when it comes to a world cup... well this is just average I think...

When I first saw the title of you post I hoped it's not a lion! That would have shown complete lack of imagination.
The leopard they've chosen is not much better than a lion, but it's a bit better...
Not the best mascot I've ever seen, but we'll have to do, not the worst either.

It looks fine to me, but yeah, there could be more mascot. Maybe some of the big cats from its safari!

It will be interest if the mascot are five ones, just like FUWA for 2008 Olympic Games.
