whenever I am on net, I find these constant updates comming up from HP.Sometimes I have skipped even but am scared if my Laptop crashes if I dont update on time. Generally I can view the available updates and can cancell some too. But how am I to know what to update and what not to? And can some of you please tell me, do they occupy much of the space and keep little space for softwares I would like to install.

Well if its updates from Hp i dont think its that necessary and i doubt if its update from Hp, are you talking about a yellow icon showing up on you system tray near your system clock, if so its update from Windows, its recommended you install those updates but if you have upgraded to service pack 3 ,you will receive less number of updates when compared with service pack 2, and if your using vista try updating to service pack 1. its all available for free download in microsoft website, in microsoft search bar type service pack 3 for xp or service pack 1 for vista.
