Why are people scared of the dark?

well if we talk about psychology, the answer is called animism. every individual gives special meaning on different things, its up to us on how we look at it... remember the qoute, " the tree that an arrogant man can see is different from the tree an educated man can see".... thats my opinion my friend,... take it or leave it...

i agree that people are generally scared of the dark because when it's dark you cannot see what's around you. people are scared of being vulnerable and i guess that's why they are scared of darkness. but sometimes darkness gives me comfort.

I have to agree with some of the things have said. I think our minds have a tendency to play tricks on us. And when we're in the dark, we don't see things really well. So, it's a really good time for our minds to trick us.

I think it has to do with your mind. People like to be in control, and without any lights you can't see anything. Which means you won't be able to control. Ofcourse, you don't think it like this in your head, but I did once. And I was just saying to myself; everything's ok, nothing to worry about, and I wasn't scared anymore. Very strange.. Anyway the important thing is that it worked for me !
