On-line auction sites, do you buy or sell on-line?

If you do sell what auction site or sites do you use?
If you are a buyer same question but also in what way do you like to pay for your items?
Im curious as eBay is again changing the way business is done. The only form of payment a seller is going to be allowed to ask for is thru Paypal.
Im looking for alternatives but it seems the only auction places buyers really go to is eBay. The smaller places like epier, Bonanzle, webidz are overlooked in favor of ebay. Why do you think that is??

I use eBay. Whenever I've done anything on there, I've mainly just bought things. I have tried selling one thing on there before, but it never sold though. I like to pay using PayPal, but I have used credit cards and money orders in the past though. I've actually never heard of any of these other auction sites. I'll check them out sometime.

I wish one of these other auction sited, the ones that I mentioned or other ones mentioned would take off some. So far it is still all ebay. My thing is they are suppose to be a venue. Yet they tell us more and more how to run everything.
Thanks for the comment.

Actually, I am a seller at ebay and I do buy a few items there too. I am pleased with most of the changes that ebay is making. There will be more than one way to pay for an item.
The buyer can pay by using Internet Merchant Account, payment on pickup,Paypal, or Propay. These are all secure payment methods and will allow the seller to receive the money faster and allow the buyer to receive the item in a timely matter.

I too have done both, and I hate the changes they have made over the years. I just read that there is more then one way to pay, all on line, which I think stinks. What about people that dont feel comfortable with paying online. What happened to they are only a venue?
I have 100% feedback and have been there for years. I have never had a problem receiving or sending out anything in a timely manner. I just dont think it is right so am looking for other alternatives. Sad that noone thinks outside the box when it comes to auctions and eBay is the ruler. They arent what they used to be that is for sure.
Thanks for your comment.

Hi Ithink..
Well,I'm selling and buying online.. Actually, I'm using 3 sites were I usually post my products and where I go for online shopping.. These sites are ebay, auction and sulit.com.ph.. Actually, I don't like to have a transaction through online.. I go for meet up especially if the seller or buyer is near in my locations.. Since, they also agree for meet-up.. I will be the one who will decide the place where we are going to meet, of course I choose in the public places so that it makes me sure that it is safe to have a transaction.. I like meet up same as others because I will be sure that the product I'm selling will be paid and most of all if I buy a product I can test it first if it is real and in good condition because sometimes the seller just say that she/he will package the product on a certain date but then you won't be able to receive it or the product is not in good condition.. It is really hard to trust people especially if you don't see them.. So, I just rather go for meet ups.. I also have some transactions through sending package.. Of course, I will ask the buyer to send the payment first then I'll send the package.. That is always my deal.. If I receive already the money then I'll send the package to him/her already.. I will also send him/her the scan receipt of that package for some proof that I really send it to him/her..
Transactions through online perhaps really difficult especially if you don't know how to deal with that person.. So, just make sure that when you sell your product you must tell the condition of it so that the buyer will know it and when you buy online make sure that you have all the information needed to that seller so that you would know what to do or to contact the seller if you don't receive the item.. I hope I gave you some tips regarding online transactions.. Happy posting!
By the way, if have some questions, you may ask me anytime..

Thanks for trying to be so helpful. Im also glad that you are careful when meeting people as it can be dangerous, you just never know nowdays.
I have sold and boughten on line, Im just tired of ebay and was wondering what keeps everybody there with them dictating what is done. I mean I know they own it but it is suppose to be a venue. Now they are telling buyers they cant say they accept money orders or checks. It is ridiculous.
Thanks for posting

I recently joined ebay as a buyer and started buying a few things! I think that ebay is a fantastic place to shop. It's only recently that I applied for a seller's account with ebay so now, I'm a buyer as well as a seller. Since becoming a seller I have listed four items and none of them have been sold as yet. I'm going to have to work on my marketing skills I think! The thing I like about ebay though is the ratings process. When you do business with anyone on ebay you rate them on the service you receive and by the same token, they rate you. I generally think that it's a good thing to remain with the most popular online auction site, and in my view that is ebay. Good luck with your future auctions. Andrew

Ebay used to be fun and for the small sellers too. It has really changed and this last set of rules has some buyers and sellers not to happy. The thing is they started from basically nothing and yes became this huge auction site, they need to go back to what it was. A friendly auction site that the small sellers can work at.
I also dont like them telling anyone how payments are to be made and of course they push paypal as they own it.

I usually buy items off eBay.
I don't agree with the way eBay is changing at the moment.
I have never sold an item on eBay or other sites and I am not sure I am going.
I usually prefer to pay between £5 - £50.
I've never bought anything too expensive off of eBay before.
I've never heard of epier, Bonanzle etc. I think people overlook those sites as eBay is a fast growing site with millions of buyers and sellers.
People prefer to buy and auction on a website that has a large community and is exceptionally popular.

I have bought and sold. I was wondering what others really think with all their changes in rules. I guess as a once in awhile seller, I know about the other places as alot are getting fed up with eBays unfair practices.
The problem being as you stated eBay is the biggest and the sellers have to be were the buyers are.

I used to sell on Ebay for a long time till the site flooded and it became somewhat of a lost cause. Now I just buy on there, mostly movies and crafting things. I think ppl stick with Ebay b/c it's so popular.

I sold on EBAY for a long time. It just got to be a bore to have to pack up all the stuff, get it to the post office and off to the buyer. My husband buys lots from the Internet. He does buy from Ebay often for certain things if he can find them cheaper and with a good seller. I had rather have someone pay through PayPal. You don't have to worry about not getting the money. And I like the idea of paying with PayPal when I buy something online because I want to pay quickly.

I buy things off of E-Bay a lot. I've had a lot of success on that site. Although I am cautious about what I buy, I can say that I have not run into a problem with them yet.
