I always like my children to make home made gifts to give to family and friends.
Not sure yet what they are going o make this year as yet.
Do your children make home made gifts for people? If so what sort of things do you make?
I think i is nice for them to make gifts rather than buy gifts. What do you think?

Hello Anne18
I think it is lovely for the kids to make things as gifts for people but my kids are still a bit too young just yet. I did it a lot with my mum when I was younger. We used to make doormats, place mats using french knitting and also rafia all sorts of stuff can't remember it all!

Well we always make homemade Christmas gifts for the kids teachers, we have done tree ornaments, pomandas, recycled money wallets and this year we made white chocolate and cranberry fudge. Sometimes their input it is limited but that is down to the lack of interest not age haha

My little grandaughter is currently making a sequin picture for me for Christmas. It is meant to be a surprise but she just couldn't contain her excitement so she told me what I was getting. I think home made gifts are much more appreciated by everybody. When you think of the time, effort and the love that the children put into making there gifts I think it makes us appreciate them much more than a shop gift.

Every year I have my son, make a present for my best friend. One year I sewed a snowman (she is a snowman collector) from one of his baby blankets, then had him stuff it and paint a face on it. Last year he strung up some beads I bought and he made a necklace for her. He'll be 4 this year so he wants to pick out his own present to make for her. My little girl will be one, so I thought about making one of those ceramic handprint things for my friend from my little girl. I think it's beautiful to get handmade presents. Anyone can go to a store and buy something, but when you make something for someone, you are putting your love and caring into it.

My son is only a baby, but so far we have made hand print cards for grandma and grandpa. Next to the hand print it read this is the hand you used to hold when I was only 1 year old. We accompanied it with a picture of him with the paint on his hands. It turned out really cute.
