In order for your parents to be proud of you, you should be proud of yourself first... you must have the will and strength and faith to do your tasks successfully.. then, you must master the art of time-planning.. scheduling your work will make your tasks easier and you will be more concentrated in your work.. another is you must be eager to learn... if your parents reprimand you of being a slowpoke, then listen to them, and be hardworking... then you must be quick, hardworking, and self-sufficient... parents are usually proud of their children if they accomplished a task carefully within a limited time.. ....but, you should never forget that parents are proud of their child no matter what..., so don't push yourself too hard or else you will end up losing...

I am proud of myself but it makes me sad knowing that my parents are not. I give my best out of the talent I have but I guess it's not making sense with them. I don't know what should i do next.

ahhh, that's a tough one.. ur the one pushes urself down.. be positive.. sometimes, parents are not showy of their emotions, depending on their personality.. you just have to catch them in the act... in order to do that, you need to consult someone that know your parents very much.. you can ask your uncles and aunts, and make a survey if they are really not showy in terms of their feelings...?

hello dunnote, a parents will always be proud of you if you did good things for the family, for your self and for anybody else. Like for example in your school, you must study hard so that you can have good grades and by that way your parents will be proud much more if your going to be an honor in your class. another thing also a parent will be proud if there child has an exceptional talent that made him/her popular or by just having a talent that could make your life a successful one.. and many more things that could make your parent of you.. just be good and obeyed them and go for your dreams and ambitions. Once you succeed in your life your parents will be the most happy and proud parents in the world...

Honestly, I think jersey86 has given some good advice. I can somewhat relate to what you're going through. There are times when I don't feel like I'm living up to my parents' standards. But don't give up! Because in the end, I'm sure that they are going to be proud. All I can really advice is just do your best. Or what you think is your best. In the end, they are most likely going to see the effort you put in your studies.

What if my best doesn't fit their best? It's really hard especially of the so called generation gap. Another fact, is we're living here in philippines and the tradition is very conservative.
