Yes. In my place, office allow people wearing jeans and casual wear. Maybe cos people working in here is young person. In 2004 we have rule to not wearing casual cloth, and than 2005 we have boss always wearing casual cloth so all employee under he division start change they style to be wearing jeans and casual wear. Step by step people in here change too wearing something like that, now management can't said NO cos the boss said its ok as long as they can working good.

Casual dress for the most part is cropping up all the place and happens on more than just Friday. What you may want to consider is the type of job you do- if you're meeting clients it's easier to be overdressed than underdressed- so if you're in sales, casual may not be the way to go, if you work in a cube all day with little contact jeans are probably okay.
Shorts are never okay and to be honest what's more comfortable than a polo shirt and kikiahs- which is where most businesses are these days.

I don't think they should be allowed on an everyday basis but it is good to have a casual Friday or equivalent. It gives staff something to look forward to while still maintaining a level of professionalism and equality throughout the office for the rest of the week. The problem with allowing casual dress every day from my experience is that over time people tend to become more and more relaxed with the way they dress and you find yourself having to constantly remind staff to pay more attention to their clothing. The four days of professional attire versus one day of casual wear scenario has worked very well in aplces I have run and worked in before.

It depends on wear you work, I guess on a casual friday or something it would be acceptable. It is not an option where I work to dress that casualy. We have important jobs to do and must look as such. I manage an accounting firm for a software company, handling all their money is very important so my employess as well as myself have to dress a certain way to convey this.

We have all kinds of uniforms, t-shirt, suits with pants, suits with dress and dress, etc.
So i guess i'll never have chance to try that out. but i'm a firmly believer of casual outfits.
have a nice day!
