I am thinking about crocheting amigurumi toys for the holidays, and I was wondering if anyone has, if so did you purchase the eyes or did you make it? Do you think there is a market for those types of toys?

As far as I can see from searching, amigurumi toys are very popular. Here are some free patterns I came across: http://www.roxycraft.com/free_patterns.htm I think they would make excellent gifts and you might try setting up a 'shop' on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/ if you want to sell them. I read a story once that somewhere in the US, every fire engine and police car had one or two stuffed toys that they could give to kids who needed comforting in an emergency like a fire or a road accident. I thought that was such a brilliant idea!

I'm sorry. I don't know about eyes but for small kids it would probably be better to crochet them or embroider them. Eyes that stick on or are fixed by wire could be very dangerous for small people.

Here is a site that sells eyes and says that they ship worldwide. If their quantities are too large, you might join up with other crocheters - maybe even start a class to teach beginners! http://www.suncatchereyes.net/

Thanks for the wonderful information, I did not know that emergency personal gave stuff toys to kids how nice. If I don't sell, it would be nice to give them to fire stations etc. I guess the eyes would only be applicable for the older kids.

Oh, I think it depends on the pattern and personal preference what type of eyes you want to use.
