What's your reaction to a picture like the one I have attached to this topic?

Whacky Humour! - Funny or offensive? You decide..... Some people have the whackiest sense of humour and you have to love them for that!

I was emailed this picture by a friend and immediately found it very amusing! Some people in this world have an amazingly whacky sense of humour! Then it immediately got me thinking..... Although I find it humorous personally, once again there will be people out there that take instant offence because most of the people in the photo are representing a Church and religion. What is your own reaction to the photo? Did you find it funny like I did or do you find it somewhat offensive and making fun of religion in a way? Please share!

Honestly James, It depends on what is said along with the image. Here you have made it clear that this was from a point of humour and I would personally look at it that way. Had i seen this image in isolation it would have perplexed me a little bit, brought a smile and then a few questions and some mild reactions. I have seen similar provoking yet humorous images, but then prefer to keep myself quiet or atleast would not show out my reactions however strong or subtle they maybe.

Maybe I should have just posted the photo and asked "What do you think when seeing this picture?" instead? lol. At first I didn't actually see the guy at the back! But when I did I honestly couldn't help but smile to myself. I wonder what others that were actually witnessing this parade of people walking by thought about it? Thanks for the viewpoint alok, much appreciated!

Yes it is Darth Vader! Did you end up thinking of the same Stars Wars line with a twist like I did? - "I am your Father..... Come to the Church-life Luke!"

I'm not sitting on the fence here. I was certainly not offended by the photo, nor did I find it all that funny. It would have been funny if Darth Vadar was there on purpose to make fun of their pomp and ceremony, but there is no way of knowing why he was there... I couldn't even tell that it was Darth Vadar!

I thought that comment might get the hackles up! lol. Maybe there was some method in my madness? I didn't even notice Darth Vader at first actually. I would LOVE to know the story behind why he was there myself. Was it planned or just a bizzare timing thing? Oh well, I guess we will never know.....

Numerological influences maybe? (Can you hear the Twilight Zone music too?) As for the fingers keeping warm..... Drink more Cabernet. A few bottles of that in a row you won't even NOTICE that you have fingers in the first place let alone feel the cold in them.

Except that I LIKE to notice my fingers, I like the feeling of being in my body period, I don't want to have to drink myself into oblivion!!!

This is darn funny!! And look at the photo shooter, he is more intrigued by the evil. Actually the good and evil are juxtaposed all the time, sometimes visible some times not. but its still there! It's just a matter of seeing through it!

This could be the name of your first self-help book mimpi - "The Philosophical House Cleaner!" Packed full of gems of wisdom for the masses! lol. Actually when you think about it, it IS an interesting statement, I wonder if there was intention there? Good versus evil, yin and yang etc Thanks for responding and go mop that floor so you can come up with some more topics and responses!

Hi there James - i manages to steal the computer for another response to your topics: I believe that that fellow is really wacky and i wander if it isn't a faked picture, anyway i also wander what happened the next moment those priests visualized him in the background. Take care and all the best, Alex.

Hi elitess. Stealing a computer? Now THAT'S dedication if I ever saw it! I don't think it's a faked picture as you can even see people in the background looking at Darth with a strange look on their faces! lol. I would love to know the story behind it all too. Thanks for the response.

I don't know if I find the picture that funny. It amused me, that's for sure. But I think that the person in that Darth Vader costume is trying to make fun of that religion and for a lot of people, it will come off as offensive. In a different note, Boyfriend dressed up as Darth Vader last Halloween. And he had to go to work and take care of something and ended up hurting his foot. We spent some time at the ER and he came out with a cast and crutches. I know it wasn't really funny but to make light of things, I told him that "the force wasn't with him." And guess what, everyone said the same thing to him when he went back to work.

I would love to know the story behind the picture from the guy in the costume's perspective actually. Was it planned or was it just some random opportunity that he decided to jump on? The story about your boyfirend is pretty funny! I can imagine that the ER rooms all over the country would have a bizarre cross-section of so many characters during Halloween when pranks go wrong etc. Darth Vader on crutches leaving the hospital would have been hilarious to see! Thanks for sharing that SaintAnne.

Conversation with the front desk as Vader right? Even though it may not have been crowded this still creates a very funny picture in my mind!

Boyfriend didn't want to go the ER, he said he was fine but I made him go as he could hardly walk. We both thought that the ER would be crowded with a lot of crazies but it was actually very quiet. Very quiet that I could hear Boyfriend's conversation with the front desk clerk while at the lounge area.

I actually have no idea the circumstances surrounding him being there? But did you see the people in the background to the right as well? They are just below the street sign and just like the camera man, they too are staring in amazement at the guy! I saw the photo, found it amusing so HAD to share! I am glad you liked it too. Thanks for responding checapricorn.

Hmmm. I don't find it offensive or funny either one. I would be more interested in Darth Vadar any day than those pompous old fools in their robes.

Saviour-V teleports in... I didn't think much of that photo - that is, until I saw Vader. That got a few chuckles out of me. On an unrelated note, this reminds me of measurements. By the way, this might be slightly offensive, but there's always been arguments between measurements. In the red corner, you have the Imperial measurements, represented by the inch and foot... Saviour-V grins as the Imperial March is played, as the inch and foot measurements show up in the myLot Arena.... ....and in the blue corner, the Metric system, represented by the millimeter and centimeter! Saviour-V can barely hold his laughter back as the mm and cm stride gracefully into the ring, accompanied by the Rebellion anthem.... So, ladies and gents, who will win? Personally, I wouldn't know. Saviour-V teleports out hurriedly, as battle is enjoined between both sides. And....judging from the numbers, it looks pretty bloody....

This teleporting in is pretty infrequent Saviour-V, is it the gasoline prices? Hmmm. Metric versus Imperial? (I can hear the Imperial March music in my head while typing this by the way) I say we dump both of these measurement systems and go back to the days of not having measurements at all. How far is the library from here? Oh, its quite a distance..... How tall is Jerry? Oh, he's at least door height..... Far simpler, and less bloody as well because everyone would be way too confused to have the time to get upset. Thanks for the response and be careful with those teleportation gamma rays dude, they're messing with your cell structure.

I honestly find it funny! I think the cameraman is the best bit, he's clearly meant to be shooting the clergymen but is far more interested in darth vader!! i think there will be some people who take oofence to this, but i don't find it offensive, it brought a little smile to my face, it is not actually criticising or saying anything against the church, it is just a funny picture as far as i can see!! xxx

Itwould pretty hatd NOT to focus your attention on Darth Vader I think! lol. It would have been such an unusual sight to see and totally unexpected! There are also another two people to the right in the background that look stunned as well! I saw it as just a funny picture also Munchkin and I hope all others do as well. Thanks for responding to the discussion.
