I vote for VLC Media Player. I like this player because of the following reasons 1. VLC Media Player is free. 2. VLC Media Player does not take up large hard drive space. 3. VLC Media Player does not require you to download any kind of codec. 4. VLC Media Player's sound is much louder compared to other media players.

VLC Media player is the best. So far, it can play all the media files in my computer. Definitely a recommended software and of course it for free and works with Windows and Linux.

I use winamp for audio files. Its simple yet powerful. And for video, I use windows media player 11 and powerd dvd. I found no single player serving all the essential features.

Hey mate. I'd like to add with it that you say that you're using the K-Lite CODEC Pack, which is ofcourse the codec, and not the actual player. But I'm using the same one, so I guess you're using as well; MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC And indeed, this is the best one there is on the market nowadays and I like it very much!!
