Some people say that being lefthanded is a disadvantage everything in this world have been built or created for the use of people who are righthanded and so if you are lefthanded, you will find it very inconvenient. Others however say that there is no difference and it does not matter whether you are lefthanded or righthanded. Are you lefthanded or righthanded? What do you think? is it more convenient to be righthanded or not?

Left-handed writer - This is a picture that illustrates the left handed writer
I am left-handed. Yes there are quite a few item that are created for right-handed people. Most computer mice are for right handed. Office desks are set up for right handed (Granted these are stereotypes). Even most writing pens are created for right-handed people. You say "That doesn't make sense." Think about it. If you are right-handed and you write from left to right then your fine. Your hand is to the right of the pen. HOWEVER, if you are left-handed and you write from left to right, your hand is on the left side of the pen and it drags through the ink. Ink that does not dry quickly is often smeared and can make your paper look very unprofessional. Other examples are musical instruments: Piano. Melody line is play with your right hand. Guitar. Strings are opposite if you are left handed. There are a number of things which are not lefty friendly. So what do we do? We learn to do some things right-handed. That is why people say there is truly no one who is left handed. That statement is not true. The truth is that we live in a predominantly right handed world and thus are force to work beyond our natural tendencies.

I have three nieces and a nephew who are left handed and when I see them write I do think they look so awkward and i always though it must be an inconvenience for them and for another lefthanded people. not every lefthahded person learn how to cope or to do things righthanded. Those who do or as you say are forced to so at least can cope. I also agree that it is not true that there are no lefthanded people.

I envy you and all others who could use both hands. I wish I could do that. I have tried to do so but without a serious intention to learn how to write with either hand i think it would be difficult to do learn.

Doesn't matter really if a person is left handed or right handed. I just saw the difficulty of left handed when they are in school because the arm chairs are designed for right handed pupils/ students. Well, I guess schools should repair armchairs if there are left handed pupils/ students. Have a nice day!

Maybew you're right. There's no difference and the only problem is that things such as desks and other furniture or tools were built or designed with righthanded people in mind. And so lefthanded people find them so awkward or inconvenient to use.

That's what I was saying. If you were born lefthanded, you would not find it difficult or inconvenient or awkward at all. In fact you would think righthanded people were the awkward ones. In the same manner that those who are born righthanded would not find it difficult but think lefthanded people are awkward, etc. I also have some nephews and nieces who are lefthanded but who can write with their right hands because their parents thought it was necessary to teach them to dwrite so out of the mistaken idea that it was more normal to write with the right hand.

I am a right handed peron and I think I am happy being a right handed person.I have tried writing in left but then it never works out.Actually people say that being a left handed person they are lucky. It also depends on the people's luck too.convenient totally depends on the person. Regards

Yes we should be happy with what we have and with what the good Lord has blessed us. I also triedusing my left hand but i never got the knack of it. But I guess if you really put your mind to it, a lefthanded person will be able to use his right hand and a righthanded person would also be able to use his left hand. it's just a matter of training one's self to do so.

I am righthanded and don't see anything special about it. I did however have my right wrist and hand broken and during the time it took to heal I learned to do alot with my left hand. Its kinda confusing when you try to go back to being right handed. I use both my hands now . Its crazy. Have a great day all!

Oh you now have an advantage if you are now ambidextrous (hope I got that right) and you can use either your left or right hand. But i bet when you were first forced to use your left hand, you found it a bit awkward and inconvenient.

I am righthanded and while my writing is not so beautiful it is quite legible and clear. I have seen lefthanded people write and it seems it is very awkward but maybe it doesn't really matter to them but only to us who are used to seeing righthanded people write. Maybe it really makes no difference because if you are born lefthanded, you would never know the difference since you would grow up being used to the idea that lefthandedness is no big deal.
