Will you take the call or not?

I put my two mobile phones on my headboard each time I go to bed. That way, the phones are very accessible. At the same time, when the alarm of each phone goes off, it will be easier for me to turn them off. I do keep my phone at arms reach because I do have some friends and relatives who are based abroad who call up in the wee hours of the night or early morning. However, there are times when I would really like to sleep peacefully. Thus, there are times when I just let the phone ring when it does. This happens especially at times when I really do not have much strength to take a call.
How about you? If your phone rings in the wee hours of the night or maybe at midnight or past midnight, will you take the call?

Well, yeah, people won't go to the extent of dialing your number knowing that you are in dreamland if it is not important.

I wish I could just ignore all unknown numbers. It's just so unfortunate that when calls that come in are overseas calls, the numbers do not register. So at times, I do not have any choice but to answer the call.

depends. there are instances where someone called me in the middle of the night. if i dont know the number, i dont answer it. i just let it ring or press the busy tone. if its someone i know, i would probably wake up and answer the phone. :)

It depends on who calls me. If it is not a number I easily recognize, I will let it go to voicemail. If it's my family or friends, I will answer the call. I haven't been called very often during the night, but I still keep my cell phone nearby just in case.

i think my friends and family know better than to call me late at night cause i'm sleep and won't answer the phone. the only way i would answer if it was an emergency and they were calling like 2 or 3 times in a row.

Fortunately enough my friends and relatives do live in my time zone so there is no need for them to phone at odd hours in the morning. However if I receive a phone call at an odd hour yes I would receive the call in case it is a real emergency which involves my relatives.

Well, since I don't have any family abroad, and even the family that does live on the other side of the nation doesn't call, I assume when someone calls in the middle of the night, its an emergency, so I pick up the phone always. There is one time though that it wasn't. My mom called at 5:30 one morning. Both me and my grandma picked up the phone as soon as we saw it was her. She asks "Do you still have some of those antibiotics I gave you?" We were so mad! That could have waited until normal hours!!! I know she didn't feel good, and couldn't sleep, but she gave us both a heartattack thinking something was wrong!

I remember a similar incident that happened to me. One time, I came from a long trip and so I was so tired that I slept early. At around 2 am, my phone rang and when I checked who was calling, it was a friend of mine whom I was with during the trip. I thought it was really something important. Well, she just called to say "Goodnight".

well, i actually turn my phone off during my sleeping time as well as during classes and work...although, i'm living overseas, and i'm supposed to leave it on..but i just cannot make it.. if my phone rings at night, i can't go back to sleep after that..and sometimes, i cannot think clearly with whom i'm talking and i just end up creating such a big mess!
but fortunately, they know my attitude, so they usually end up leaving message voice or call again in the morning...

I have elderly relatives and several friends with depression or anxiety, so I answer the phone no matter what time of night it is. I don't have a cell, so it's my house phone that rings, and it's in another room next to my bedroom. If it wakes me, then I'm not going back to sleep anytime soon, emergency or not, so if it's not, we might as well talk. Of course, if it's a toll-free number, I don't pick up. They can call back some other time.

I will at least look at it and see who it is b/c if it's my mom or sister calling at 2 AM, it's probably for good reason - like an emergency. Otherwise, if I don't know the number I let it ring - but if I get a voicemail I listen for the same reason, in case it's an emergency. I can't just ignore it b/c I'd worry.

yes i do. my mom lives at cavite and i live here at marikina. i make sure that if she calls even in the wee hours in the morning then i can take her call. thats the main reason for that. my sister who just gave birth lives in japan. she is only here now to give birth for she does not want to give birth there so if she is at japan, i want to make sure too that when she calls i am able to answer her call. well whoever that person be.... calling in the middle of the night, that means it is important or it is emergency. i will take that call

It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is. If someone from my family calls me I will answer it. My brother is in Iraq. All of my family live in different states. I keep my cell phone on my headboard too.

Well, I have to check the number of the caller. If I know who it was I would definitely answer the call. It might be an important call and I don't want to miss it. But is just friends who are just bothering you or just making fun, forget about it. It's worth of your time when you answer an important call whatever time it is in the night.

Hi dolc_vita78,
Yes I would because no one calls me up that time of the night and if I do get a call it would be emergency so yes I will take the call.

Hey dolce, I hate being awakened by a ringing phone. It takes
me long enough to fall asleep. I have my landline phone with
the ringer off in the bedroom, but I can hear it ring in the
kitchen. My cell phone is off since I only use it for when
I'm out and for emegencies. I don't get many calls on it.
Most of my calls I get are when I am home. My friends know
that I am usually up late, but I still don't like the phone
to ring late. If I'm awake I will take the call. If I really
am tired or don't feel like speaking I won't. If it's an
emergency of course I would take it. Thank goodness for
Caller ID!
