I usually ask my Husband what the word is or what does it mean. He usually knows.

I can usually figure out the meaning of a new word from the context of the material. If I can't, I look it up. If it's so unfamiliar that I've never come across it before, I'm not going to worry about how it's pronounced because I'll probably never use it.

I will look up a word I don't know if I can't figure out it's meaning by the context of the passage, but I don't worry about how to pronounce it. That's not quite true, I will try to say the unfamiliar word out loud, as this will frequently help me to figure out the meaning. I won't stop reading and get the dictionary just to see how the book says it should be pronounced.

It depends on the word or the sentence that I am reading. So there are occasions taht I have to stop and find out the meaning of the word through a dictionary. Sometimes I just jot down the word and find it out later. It's really good to check on it since this will of course increase your vocabulary.

I'm in my 60s now and I have been an avid reader since grade school. I used to keep a dictionary next to my reading area to look up all the words I didn't know but now I refer to it only on occasion. I have a pretty fair vocabulary by now and find myself laughing when I find new words I haven't seen before, and yes, I still look them up. Happy reading!

Hi! Usually when I come across to new words that I don't know the meaning or how to pronounced it, I look it up in the dictionary first to know the meaning and pronunciation before I continue on my reading. There are times as well, that I just read on and I got an idea on what it means from how it was used in a sentence.

I use context clues to try to figure out what the word means. If i still can't figure it out, i always say i need to look it up, but honestly i never do. So basically i skip it and go on.

I always try and figure the meaning base don context. Then I look it up when I have time and try and get the pronunciation down, then try and use it in conversation. It expands my vocabulary and makes me appear smarter than iIam. LOL.

Oh, how I wish I would stop and look up a word! I usually just skip over it and hope I can get the gist of the meaning by the context of the sentence.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I will come back to it later. Or I will just get up and look. Others I find my hubby can be a good source of info.

I can't remember the last time I came across a word that I didn't know. (They don't use a lot of difficult vocabulary in romance novels! LOL) When it does happen, and I can't figure it out from the context of the paragraph, then I look it up in the dictionary. I love words and I really enjoy finding new ones.

if someone is nearby I might as them. I guess it depends on how important and/or interesting what I'm reading is. and if it is a word that I cannot figure out just by the context, then I will try to look it up if possible. A lot of times its pretty easy to figure out by the context though. like 90% of the time anyway!
