Today, I reemed out capital one. I was sooo freaking angry at them. Back in May, I called them and asked for my balance, and then paid it and had them close the account. I went in to do a prequalification for a mortgage today and it was showing up on my CREDIT REPORT that I was 120+ days delinquent on my bill with them and that I owed them $200!
I didn't use the card at all. I CLOSED the account. The guy on the phone said that a charge of $3.95 went through after I paid the bill. Umm.. It should have BOUNCED. Not have been accepted. And the rest of the 200 was all late fees for not paying the $3.95
I was BEYOND raging mad. I told the guy I'm not F*****ing paying it. And after a lot of me swearing and yelling he told me he'd close out the account and zero out the balance and I turned instantly sweet and was like "Thank you sir. Have a great day!" I think I freaked him out.
But for credit card companies to have the nerve to do something so unethical! The account was CLOSED. They should have BOUNCED the charge.

I'm working in an off-shore business outsourcing company. I think Capital One is one of our clients. The guy on the phone must have been someone from here.

The topic wasn't just about the guy... It was about the company being unethical?

Personally this does not surprise me at all with Capital One. They are one of the worse Credit Card companies for charging charges like this. It is not right that places like this can do this, and unethical. Makes you wonder who is really in charge, and no wonder they say they had to Bail out a lot of banks for unpaid credit cards, etc.

Tell me about it. I was recently sued by a credit card company, and I am indebted to them estimate to be about for the next 2 years, if I keep my payment on time, and I won't spend some major money on anything else. That is my fault, because I trust on a wrong hand. I should beat my head to the wall for it.
