As a lot of my friends know I recently lost my Granny. She died 9/13/08. I will surly miss her. What I have been doing these last week and a half was remembering things about her. Things she did for me or taught me. I thought I would share some of those memories. Granny retired at the age of 62 and moved from the Los Angles Area to the central San Joaquin Valley area to be with her family. At the time her daughter, son in-law and their three children and spouses lived around here. Our daughter was 2 years old at the time and I was pregnant with our son. Granny was always there when I needed her. She kept our daughter when I was in the hospital giving birth to our son. Granny always made sure that she had the foods that the grand children and great grandchild would eat. In 1988 Granny, and Granddad went with me to Washington. I drove all the way there which is over 1000 miles. Granddad drove a few hours on the way home. Granny sat in the back seat of our 1988 Ford F150 extended cab pick up. She sat behind the passenger. The whole way up there and back Granny read every road sign out loud. She told me when I was speeding, she warned me when a curve was coming, thank God she did not read the exit names to me. By the time we got up to Washington, which we stopped in Organ and spend the night. By the time we got to Washington I was flustered and ready to strangle Granny for all of her back seat driving help. Now I think about it and laugh and there has been times since then we have talked about that trip with found memories and laugh at her reading the road signs. She also would get in the back seat, mind you it was a two door pick up so she climbed into the back seat. Every time she climbed into the back seat she would say, "Oh I am going to find my butt dent". meaning the spot she sat in the cushion of the seat. heehee. We teased her for years that the trunk had her butt dent in it and it was waiting for her. What are some of your fondest memories of your Grandparents? They could be dead or alive. If you do not have grandparents I would like to know your fondest memories of someone who is very special to you. I also want to thank all of my friends and myLotters who have responded to my discussions. I tend not to thank you all.

My fond memories of my grandmother would always be during new year's eve... the whole family spent new year's eve in her home... and she would always bake delicious cake and rice sweets... and during the fireworks when everybody is outside watching... she would sneek inside the house... and hang grapes everywhere... she knows how her grandchildren love grapes... so when we enter it would be like a huge grape hunt... I miss those days... but i know that my grandmother is at peace whereever she is...

She sounds wonderful. Is there something in your custom about the grapes? I have never heard of hanging grapes all over the house. We do hide Easter Eggs on Easter.

She is indeed wonderful... but i don't remember where that grape hanging thing started... all i remember is that she started doing it when they finally had their own house where we can celebrate new year's eve together...

My grandmother was the person I admired and loved a lot and I have learnt from her more than any person. She used to tell very good stories from one sacred book Bhagwat for which I used to get up after noon and sneek in side grandmom's room to listen to her,at that time she used to tell see your mom will wake up so go to sleep which I never bothered and used to giveup my sleep for her stories.

I think that is important that you knew that he loved you.
