Youless, you should be more tolerant and think before you
write something. Having breathing problems is nothing to
make fun of. In fact it can be life threatening. Some people
have sleep apnea which means they snore and stop breathing
and can die! It isn't pleasant to sleep with someone who
snores loudly, but they can't help it. I have a nasal
problem because the bone in my nose is crooked and it is
called a deviated septum. I don't want the surgery so I
apparently do snore. I didn't even know that I did until
my boyfriend told me that I do. So you need to understand
that it isn't done on purpose to annoy other people and it
can be a very serious medical problem which isn't funny!

This reminded of my roommate abroad who snored so loudly... that it can be heard in the next room... even with the airconditiong turned on... and the thick walls... he actually snored like a man... and then we found out that she was actually a lesbian... so that explains it... but i am not saying there is a connection between snoring and being a lesbian...

There is no connection. I snore and I am not a lesbian. It is all to do with the sinuses. People who have breathing problems snore. Some have sleep apnea which can will make them actually stop breathing and that wakes them up.
In my case it is sinus problems which I have had since primary school.

Yes, I agree! My boyfriend told me that I snore too! And
I have a BOYFREIND so as you can see I am not a lesbian
either! I have a deviated septum which is a nasal problem
and causes me to not be able to breathe correctly out
of my nose!

hmm... women are people too. And I am sure some women snores too.
For all you know, they snore louder than men!
I guess it all boils down to how we sleep at night. If the head position is not good and our tongue gets in the way of the air pipe, then we will snore.
Men or women, all have the same predictment. Just that, it seems men are the ones that get affected by it the most.
I am sure weight plays a part too.
I remember hearing my grandma snoring. She snores so loud, she seems to be competing with gramps to see who can snore louder. It was so funny to wake up in the middle of the nite to their "competition".

Yep, I think so too. It seems that there is scientific reasons to it as well.
Due to some blockage of the wind piep from the fats or something like that.
Read somewhere before in some science journal.
I cannot remember the details. The termed used to describe such problems of snoring due to weight is called Sleep Apnea, I think.
The quick cure for such things is to lose some weight and the problem should be alleviated.

everyone snores, including pets. i used to wake up my late dogs and late cat in the middle of the night because of their snoring. they just looked at me, as if saying, "what?" and went back to sleep.

would it have bothered you less if a MAN was snoring? I think that snowing is the same whether it's a man or a woman doing it. I remember sleeping at the log cabin up north, and my grandparents were in the next room. My grandfather's snoring kept everyone awake. LOL Female or male, it's just as bad.

People who snore rarely know they snore unless it wakes them up and they become aware of it. I never knew I snored until my boyfriend at the time started waking me up to stop me as he was a light sleeper and it bothered him. I am not at all sure if lots of women snore of not, I do know that a lot of men snore but not all of them.
Snoring is often caused by sinuses being blocked and I have had problems with my sinuses since primary school so that may well be the problem. I don't know. I do know that sometimes I wake up with a very dry mouth and I suspect this is caused by breathing through the mouth instead of the nose. I have to keep a glass of water beside my bed to deal with it.

Whether it be men or women, snoring is never pleasant for those sleeping around them. Coming from a family of snorers, I empathize with those who do (I know my time is coming when I may empty a room because of my snoring.. yikes)! In our family it is a medical thing and there are things that can be done in the long term. But, especially for younger people, I don't think they realize they do it, or when told don't realize there are things they can do to help it. My grandmother snored so loud that my grandfather wore earplugs to bed!!!

I am a woman and do not see a problem with snoring. Women or men who snore usually have trouble breathing properly at night and therefore the "snore" comes out. It's nothing to bothersome if you can sleep through it or turn on a fan in warmer seasons so that you do not hear the snore so much as you hear the lull of the fan. Getting ear plugs are rather cheap, especially the removable ones or you could just put a ball of cotton in your ear.

I don't feel any different about a woman snoring than a man snoring.
I've noticed one thing about people who snore. They always seem to sleep on their backs. There seems to be some connection with that.

It's not a matter if you're a man or woman and you snore! I myself snore, but it depends on how I'm lying in the bed.
If I'm on my back, I'm snoring so loud, that I wake my husband up and he has to nudge me in order for me to stop.
If I'm on my side or my stomach, I'm quiet as a mouse!
People have there different reasons as to why they snore...society just think it's not normal for a WOMAN to snore, but we do!

Good afternoon, youless. I have no idea whether it is true that women snore less than men and vice versa, but I have to say that I snore as I have been told by my wife, who sometimes snores slightly and so does my mother. My father snores as well. Theoretically men snore more than women, I guess? I seem to have read somewhere that it is no good to snore, which shows that it is not good to the heart. Sometimes I can feel myself snoring, but not always. Yeah, it is really very annoying to his or her partner if one snores. If I snore, my wife will push me to make me stop it. lol.

I think someone needs to tell her that she snores and that she needs to go to a Doctor. People who snore often have a life threatening disease called sleep apnea. The problem can take years off their lives and rob them of energy.

My mother will snore loudly whenever she sleeps. It doesn't bother me. just let it runs its course. But i remeber that it is abnormal to snore and should see a doctor. I think we seldomly take it as the illness, right?

hubby says that i snore sometimes and that's when i'm extremely tired. men are more prone to snoring. but if it's really loud and you feel like you can't breathe than you need to see a doctor. a friend had to undergo surgery for excessive snoring. i think it's called sleep apnea.
