I don't know if it was post partaum depression or just the fact that my husband wasn't very supportive after we had our baby. But I was pretty depressed for a very long time and he kept making it worse saying it was all in my head. There are so many times when I just wanted to die or leave home and did't know where to go. My first pregnancy was easy..labour wise. But I'm very scared about the second one (I'm expecting the second one anytime now). I think my pain thresh hold is lower now than before. I don't know why but I just feel so.

Hi, thank you for writing. Pain threshold lowers with stress, lack of sleep, anxiety, tension, hunger, fear, and a million other reasons. Will you have a Doula with you? There's alot of resources to find a Doula in your area, just look online. Finding a Doula now will give you support for your second baby's birthing. Interview her and make sure she's compatable with you. Make sure to rest as much as you can, and let your doctor know that you're feeling uncomfortable with this one. Sometimes a hospital has a Doula on-staff.

I don't know what a Doula is. I'm in India and don't think there are any Doula's here. But I'm with my mom now and will be leaving to be with my husband before the baby is a month old. I think it is the stress and anxiety. Anything else that you can suggest besides a Doula?

Will you give birth in a hospital?

I got very depressed after my second child. I am not sure why I guess sometimes it just happens. My fiance was very supportive and hepled with the baby when he could. So it was not that, I was just very emotinal and depressed. My son did have colic and cried a lot so I guess that made it worse. I would cry every time my fiance left for work. I could hardly bare to see him leave. As far as pain during labor, I had pain the whole time I was in labor with my first son. With my second I did not start hurting until I was dialated about 8cm. But the pain was like twice as bad.

8 to 10 centimeters are the toughest part of the first stage of labor to get through, and when labor is allowed to build at it's own pace, you build up to it. With pitocin or other methods of augmenting labor chemically, contractions are stronger, longer, and closer together than physiologic contractions.
