I just talked with my neice and she wants to go to the Minnesota renassiance Festival again this weekend. Seeing as she pays and I drive being the sober one I couldn't turen this offer down. It is closing weekend which means, FREE CHOCOLATE! yes, free. They make it there on site. Here's a link to their site. http://www.renaissancefest.com/MRF/sweetendings.html I have never been to closing weekend so this will be different. Of course I am taking my walking astick and mug I accquired in August when I last went there. Just wanted to share my chocolate fantasy with all here. Do you ever go to a Renassiance Festival? What is your favorite thing to see? Mine has been the live jousting. But after this SAaturday it may be the closing weekend with free, freshly made chocolate. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It sounds like you have a great weekend ahead of you, a really sweet weekend. LOL That is awesome that they give free freshly made chocolate. When I was a child our 6th grade class went on a trip out of town to another city, we went to the zoo, to the park to eat lunch and went to a candy factory. We were told we could have free candy and of course we all were very excited UNTIL we got in there and I never knew how horrible it smelled in that place. We didn't eat too much candy needless to say but we did get to bring some home with us. This place didn't make just chocolate candies so maybe that is why the smell was overwhelming to us. Have a great weekend, you deserve to have a break and a restful weekend.

Not going to take the mug as it is not going to be very hot this weekend. Only in the low 70's so I won't be drinking a lot of pop or water. But the chocolate may make me thristy. Hahahaha! Cocoa beans cooking stink badly. And sugar also stinks when heated. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've never been to Minnesota, so I've never been to one of the renaissance festivals. Sounds like fun, especially the free chocolate. Right now, I could use some hot chocolate. It's a little nippy here this morning. But I have to forego the chocolate and tend to a fussy little 2 mos. old grandson who just woke up from a VERY short nap. Seems he's not going to be the good little boy he was when I kept him last. He wants to be held and let sleep. But I can't sit and hold him constantly. He's too heavy and it puts my arm to sleep. Any way, have a great trip and enjoy yourself this weekend. Would love to be able to go, too. But we don't even go to our fair anymore.

They have Renassiance Festivals all over the States. The actors in the one here in MN travel all over for these shows/festivals. Thanks and enjoy the grandson even if ya have to hold him. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've never heard of one around here but will watch for one. I am having to almost hold my grandson continually. I think Mom has spoiled him. He will take a bottle and sleep a few minutes if you lay him down, or more if you hold him. A little earlier I had to give him another bottle, and I just set in the recliner and held him for 1 1/2 hours. Then, I sort of eased out of the chair, leaving him laying on a small pillow. He quickly woke up and started crying. So I have him now laying on my side on a pillow while I'm reading and computing. I honestly think that they need to start feeding him. IF I thought I could get away with it, I would feed him today!

I have never been to a closing weekend of a Renaissance fair. Is the chocolate something that they only do in Minnesota or all over? I hope you have a great time. I am glad if your niece is going to drink she brings a sober driver. Enjoy the chocolate.

Well, that is great since you are such a chocolate lover. I have never been to a festival like that. I live in Indiana and not sure if they have things like that here or not. I hope you have some fun there.

I just checked and there is not one listed for Indiana. but Michigan and Ohio have them. Depending where in Indiana you are not a long drive. http://www.renfestival.com/ this is Ohios site. It runs until Oct 9th this year. http://www.michrenfest.com/themeweekends.html This is Michigans site. Exactly like the site for Minnesotas. Must be run by the same company as the pages and weekends are the same themes etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Man - if they had that here I'd be there! Of course, chocolate is anacronistic - since it is a new world plant and they didn't have it prior to the early 16th century. Can you tell I have ISSUES with these things - I have REAL issues with SCA

I loved watching the jousting when i went. We also wandered through their games - my boyfriend especially seemed to enjoy the tomato throw at the guy who was in the thing insulting the people throwing tomatoes. I also enjoyed lots of the comedy shows they had going on when we went.

I hope your niece will have a good trip and spend a wonderful weekend.in my hometown, there are few festivals with free things like that, maybe after a long working weekdays,I forget what I can do or what I should do to prove I am alive.I just desire to sleep. I really wish there are many entertainments in my hometown.

Rennaisance Faire - High-wire act at the Tuxedo, NY Rennaisance Faire.
I had never been to a renassiance fair until last year, I wasn't sure I'd like it...I went mainly because I was interested in somebody else who was going! I went to the one in Tuxedo, NY. I was surprised how much fun it was, and even went back a second time. I didn't get to go this year, no one really wanted to make such a long drive this summer. I enjoyed the old-fashioned games, the shows and music, and of course the food! Turkey legs, giant pickles, and mead replaced the usual funnel-cake and ice cream of a typical fair..I always find something I like!
