How do companies like this stay in business!?!

Our cable company said that "it was too difficult to figure out who needed to get a credit" for Hurricane Gustav (about half of the state was out for 4 days!). Unlike the other cable company nearby (that isn't available here ) you have to call to get a credit. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a rep 2 weeks ago and she told me the credit amount, that it was processed and it would appear on the new bill. Knowing that I paid the bill minus the credit. I got the next bill today, no credit!
To make matters worse, our phone is out AGAIN!
I swear, I don't know how this company stays in business. It is a shame because the only other service is Dish, which in this area goes out super easy and costs a lot more.

OUCH! Sorry about that! Seems to me that they'd want to help their customers more! If cox can figure out who was out and who wasn't, then your company should be able to also. Why is your phone out?
I can't wait for Wednesday! I pray my digital cable will be back! I am so upset about the run around I have gotten since we got back from the evacuation on Sept 4th!

I hope you get cable back soon, at least you will get a credit for all the time that it has been off.

You guys are like us, the only other option is Direct Tv. So frustrating. All to get TV!
If I were you I would go now digital for now and then upgrade when you have to.
I am seriously thinking about doing that myself. There are so many channels we got with Cox Digital that we don't with Charter.

Yea and I have a few choice words for them! If they had listened to me and let the tech bring me out a box without trying to charge me $51 for it, my services would be fixed already!
The guy from their plant told me to have a tech come out with one so they would be here for trouble shooting and I told them that and they said they were going to charge me so I said never mind, now I am pissed at them! They owe us big time!

Well I don't have cable, but let me ask you something...Does your cable company have a website and a contact us section? You might have to establish an on-line account status for this. The only reason I ask, is that I knew I was going to get a charge on my phone bill that wouldn't have been authorized by me. Once I realized this I called my phone company and SUPPOSEDLY they made a note of it and said not to worry I wouldn't be charged. Well sure enough, I get the next bill and yes I got the unauthorized charges included. Rather than talk to someone on the phone since that didn't seem to solve anything, I went to their website (Verizon)....I contacted them by email and gave exact particulars and even mentioned that I had already brought up this issue but was still being charged. The very next day I got an email back from them, and they recognized the problem and that the false charges were being credited to me...I didn't have to pay them. Sure enough I then went to their on-line site and yes, the amount had been deducted.
Bottom line...sometimes you get better and quicker service emailing the company than talking to some jerk on the phone

I have an online account with them (opened it up when I signed up for the service because of the bill pay). They even have live chat. Guess what? They won't process ANY credits online.

If Direct TV wasn't my other option, I would cancel the service.

I think these types of companies take advantage of their cutomers and they really do not care what type of service they give you. They do not care or realise how bad it makes their company look either. They just want that dollar.

I really don't think this company cares. Right before Hurricane Gustav I spoke with a girl from a temp agency who was lining up workers for after the storm and I told he, if you need to call, don't call the house because I have Charter Phone and it is always going out. She told me that after hurricane Katrina they tried to bill her for 3 weeks of service that she didn't have and then tried to argue that the service was on when she was home the entire time!

You would think they would be able to know who gets credit and who doesn't by location. I am sorry you didn't get your credit, you may have to continue to call until you get it..
