How many people out there have or do live in the country? If you do would you prefer to live in the city? What do you think the American Farmer provides that is beneficial to our way of life in America? What is happening to the farmers in America?

hi im in australia, i live in a country town about two hours from the city melbourne. i enjoy the quiet, im not sure i would like all the ppl, cars, buildings, trams and trains. hope that helps.

Australia is a beautiful country, so I have heard from my husband. He was there when the Opera House was first being constructed. He has some pretty cool pictures of it. I am with you on the quiet. No cars, people or large buildings spewing pollution into the air.
Whether it be in the US or Australia it seems country life is loved by some of us passionately. Thanks for the response.

First of all, I would like to welcome you to myLot.
We live out in the country, for about 3 years now, and we really wouldn’t have it any other way. The air out here is much cleaner; there is hardly any noise at all. As far as living in the city, I don’t think so. We lived in the city for years and years and will probably NOT go back to that type of living again! Talk about NOISE 24/7 and the increasing pollution, forget that!
As far as today’s Farmers, there have been many of them selling out their producing land to give way for residential and commercial development.
If this continues at the rate it is presently, we will not have ample land to grow produce.

you are so correct. The farmers are being pushed out by cement drives, buildings and the commercial industry. Do these commercial industries ever think of where their food comes from?? I agree the 24/7 noise is awful. I love the peace and quiet and to let my dogs run free without worry.
Great to know others feel like we do about the rural America that is fast fading away!
