Usually in our house, we remove our shoes and thus, our guess also does the same...it was not really required that they should take off their shoes, but i guess they are observant enough that our house since was fully carpeted...other guests who don't remove their shoes maybe hiding something or ashamed of something, i assume that way...lol...and if that's the case, we don't usually force them to remove their shoes...we just have to clean up the next day!lol on other's house, i observe first and see if it is advisable to remove the shoes or not... so how bout you?care to share? happy mylotting!

I'm afraid with my bad feet, I would have to leave my shoes on - since I can barely walk without them.

I would try and ascertain the sensitivities and the customs before i do so. I would not hesitate to ask. In my own house its only in the living room becuase of the carpeting.

Yes, specially if the floors are carpeted. I remove my shoes or sandals when I visit others' home. Good day!

In our Indian culture this is a general courtesy to remove shoes before entering any bodys house so i also do the same thing whether it is my house or my friends house because we worship our house as a temple

I always love to visit the house of my friends. Take of my shoes? it depends. If my friend tell me to take it off then i will do take it off. If i can see that the floor has just been clean and its so shine then i will have to take off my shoes..Even though my friend will tell me not to..hahaha..because its clean and even in my side if my floor is clean i do want that my friends will take off their shoes if the enter my house.

I am like you sharie and will check to see what others do and if there are shoes beside the door when entering someone else's house. If they do take their shoes of then I of course will do the same! In my own apartment though the floors are all tiles so we don't bother with taking our shoes off at all and I don't expect anyone else to either. If I DID take my shoes off in my own house then I would generally expect others to do the same when they came over.

As per the customs of my home, we remove our shoes while we go in our house. I also practice the same when I go at someone else's place unless the other person insists a lot on not taking off the shoes. Also I am a cleanliness freak and since I do the cleaning of my house myself, so I like to keep it clean as much as possible

Slippers are the thing in our house,we all have a pair of good slippers, and then if we have guests come we will just leave it up to them,if they feel that they want to take their shoes off then thats up to them, but if they dont we wouldnt worry too much, the carpet is a creamy background,so it gets grubby quickly, its just a question of being careful.

me too observe first what does the owner do when they enter their house, but in our case the remove shoes, slippers before entering but they use a slipper good for inside the house, we have lots of it at home, intended to guests.

Oh well , in my case , I let my guests bring their shoes in if they want. Come on , they are guests! If they are observant enough to see that there are no shoes in the house , it will be a bonus if they leave their shoes outside. Beside , it wont hurts to do a little cleaning right?

hi Sharie, Yes, as courtesy to the owner of the house, I take off my shoes (or, in most cases, my sandals. Lol.) before I get inside. Not unless the owner tells me not to take it off. I guess it's a normal thing where we live because we usually have house slippers at home and give our guests house slippers (which are cleaner) when they get inside the house.

No, but i let my shoe brush the rag on the door to make it somehow clean. I am not hiding something, sometimes I am wearing sandals when I am out but I just still brush it on the rag.

This is a question of social ethics. In our American society, our ethics are crap. Taking off your shoes before you enter someone elses home is a sign of respect but in today's American society there is barely any respect shown toward our elders let alone entering someone else's home. It takes alot nowadays to own a home and if you do you want to keep it clean but unfortunately it is asking alot of other people to take off their shoes. Cleaning up the next day is what we normally do for those who are not considerate enough to think about their actions and the impact on they have upon other people. And that means cleaning our carpets too.

Yeh I always tend to observe as well or if I notice a big pile of shoes by the door then i'll take mine off too. Some people do just ask outright for you to take your shoes off, so then obviously I respect them and do that. With a lot of my mates, we live in shared houses so I don't really tend to go barefoot around them. My boyfriends house last year was quite bad and you could get stuck to the floor in the kitchen in the place I shared last year. This year I have my own place though so I don't mind so much about taking my shoes off but I tend to just out of feeling more comfortable.

Yes i do, i always remove my shoes to enter my house or other house. Every time i got my friend house i will observer that his house is available to wear shoes to enter his house or not, because this is a respect to my friend and his/her parents too. If you simply wear your shoe to go in someones house and without any permission, that people will think that you are bad person and don't have any moral eduction person. Next time you go people will not welcome you and so on, they have to clean all the dirties that you bring in to their house. So that every time you enter people house remember to observe whether their house is available to wear shoes enter or it is unavailable. Thank you.
