Anyone have a bicycle?

I don't drive and I am able to go out and look for work.
My sister in law drives me to the store for food shopping and anything else I may need but because of the gas shortage here in NC she does not want to drive me around as much. Can't blame her. She works a full time job so what ever gas she is able to get she needs to stretch it out so she can get to work.
If I had a bicycle I could at least apply at the stores at the mini mall that is closest to me.
I don't have the money to get one and hoping someone here in my area can donate one.
Has anyone else had a problem getting to and from work because they don't drive?

Good think we have jeepneys and other forms of public utility transportation... so there is really no need for one to own a car... i sometimes walk to work... but if it is too hot... i ride the tricycle... which cost around .50 cents... and that will take me infront of my office door... but if i ride a jeep... that would only cost me like .20 cents... but i would have to walk a little...
So no need for me to own a car or even a bicycle...

Thank goodness for public transportaion. Unfortunately I live in a rural area and there are no buses that stop here.
The tricycle hey. I got to look up what it looks likes like in your country. I wish someone had a tricycle to take me places here.

cool so you are going to get another one. it is good transportation when no other transportation is available.

can you not take any sort of public transit? when i was working, that was what i was doing (i dont drive either!) also, regarding the bike, perhaps you could look into freecycle - it is an organization that people list stuff that they want to get rid of. it might be worth looking into.

Glad you were able to learn driving. it is so much faster to get from one place to another. A bike is good for a certain distance but then you get really tired lol.

Hello Seabeauty, I dont know how much money you have to spend or what might be available in your area but I usually see bikes for sale pretty cheap at the local thrift stores(usually around ten to fifteen dollars) but I am on the other side of the country from you so it might be different there. I wish you good luck finding a bike, this time of year there should be quite a few to choose from.
Hugs, Tianna

A friend of mine has no driving license, she has a small business about thirty minutes away from where she lives, and she uses the public transport nearly all of the time, she goes by train first of all ,and then for the second shortest part of the journey she uses the bus,it works well for her,and she feels its good value, but there are some days that her partner is going her way,the he will give her a lift in.
