What on earth?!

Later this afternoon while I was waiting for my next class, the office secretary approached me and gave me a copy of the latest memo. It was from the Office of the Executive Vice-President of our school. I was surprised by what I saw....
Here in the Philippines, when there is a typhoon (or even when there is none, but rains are so strong...) classes are suspended depending on the typhoon signal. Normally, classes in the college level are suspended when typhoon signal is raised to 3. However, there are times when the mayor would suspend classes in all levels even if the signal is lower than 3 as long as the rains are really strong. When classes are suspended, even teachers do not report to school.
Okay, so what was in the memo?
We were informed that we are REQUIRED to report even if classes in the college level are suspended. Yeah, by the way, I teach in college.
What?? We are REQUIRED to report even if classes in the college level are suspended?? What do we report for? What on earth are we going to do in school without the students around?
Oh my! Something must be wrong the school administrators!

Hi dolc_vita78,
Have you not question this to your adminstrator? your safty comes first too in those bad weather, and who are you going to teach if there are no students there? or has he or she lost the plot? maybe the peron is a slave driver.

[i]Hi dolce,
hahahaha..That is very funny! LOL! The head and the one who prepared that might be drunk..LOL! ANyway, Sometimes, the admin really want their staff or people to just be there to work so that they are not wasting the money they are paying for them...I do know how will you describe that type of perception!

That sounds really strange to me. Why wAould people be required to report during something as dangerous as bad weather? Also, what do they expect you to do once you get there, and what is the punnishment for not reporting during this bad weather for useless reasons? Sure sounds strange to me. Thanks for posting.

If we do not report, we are considered absent and thus, we are required to file a leave of absence form the moment we report.
