Friends, as a fresh dentist, i am going to start my clinic in few months...
so for the same reason, i want to know what a patient expect out of his dentist...
what you guys expect your dentist's clinic should have...
what is your expectation with dentist? his behaviour? his style? his knowledge? his attitude? his skill?
Would you like to go to a dentist who charge less money, or you would like to go to a dentist who treat WELL though charges higher?

well firstly i want my dentist to be gentle. i've avoided dentists for the longest time as i was manhandled when i was young. i never left the dental clinic before spitting out mouthful of blood. it was really a scary experience for me. until recently, a colleague recommended my current dentist to me. i gave him a try and 'fall in love' with him. he is so gentle and nice about everything. totally no stress about going to him. in fact, i look forward to my six-monthly visit. i even brought my partner along and now we go to him together. knowledge also plays a very important part. my dentist recommended the clench inhibitor to me, which helps with my bruxism problem. i'm deeply grateful to him for this too. cheers ;p

The first thing I expect from a dentist is his honesty.
I mean, when there's something wrong, I expect him to explain the problem thoroughly, then tell me what can be done and if he can do it or not. I don't want him to say something like "maybe I can fix it, let's see what happens!". I expect him to know his exact limits and not step beyond them. Also, I like to know everything that's being done to me before getting it done, and all that a certain procedure implies.

Dear friend,
i am happy to know that patients are too much aware these days and are eager to know more about their problems...
These days, every dentist first explaing the problem to patient. then he gives one or two options of treatment, depending upon the material used and cost [but same procedure], then he explains the procedure what he is going to do during treatment..
And if there are cases which is beyond his limit, then he gives you a no. and adress of doctor with MDS [master in dentistry] degree in that field. and he referrs you to the best doctor he knows...
there are instances, when we use to put temporary material in cases where infection has reached too close to pupl [the blood an dnerve supply of teeth] but has not involved it... and have to wait for about 3 months, if pain is resolved then we do the permanent filling... and if there is some pain then we do Root canal treatment... which is different.
If your dentist does not tell you all these things in advance on his own then you can ask him and he will surely tell you all the points.
