I actually couldn't remember how on earth I got approved by a creditcard company?? I've got previous attempts of applying other card companies but to my dismay, none of them were approved.I already have 2 existing creditcards and I have been using these stuff for a year now. I was really surprised when I received this new one that I have not applied.I wonder how this thing happened? What could be the possibilities for these? Have you experienced this too?
Happy mylotting to all! ;)

It's sometimes difficult to be approved even when one doesn't apply let alone receiving one when no application has been made. Are you sure it's not one that you ha applied for previously?
I know that in here, around Christmas time they hardly even check and everyone is basically approved, but not without an application :)

some cards are also autonatically activated after
a certain period of time..

is it from BDO? i am a member of SM advantage and use it at SM everytime i go to the grocery. it was also a shocked to me when i received a ready made credit card. but i was not able to activate it for they are asking for payslip. i dont work on an office nor on a corporate world so there is no way that i can have a payslip. i was so sad that only people who works on the corporate world can enjoy the benifits of having a credit card

That is a common situation. A lot of people do receive pre-approved credit cards. However, once you start using the card, you may be asked to submit first some requirement or papers before you could really fully use it. I had received such card once without even applying but I was required to submit my ITR first before I could really use the card.

Credit cards are plastic money that is of no significant to me . I used to have a list of credit cards in my keeping. No doubt credit cards are useful only when there is a real need of it like when one is travelling abroad. Otherwise they fleece your money and disrupt your budget. I decided to destroy all my credit cards because I have no control of the usage of these cards. I really had bad experience with credit cards when I exhausted all my cards to the limit and was unable to come up with fast payments and was sued. I decided that I would no longer want to own one but instead rely on debit cards where I can monitor the flow of my cash. Getting approved for a credit card when you have not applied for it is not known to happen but maybe it is given from the bank where you have an account.

so far, my experiences of having a creditcard is good. I still have not encountered tough situations subscribing to this creditcard companies. Good for you that you have decided to cut all your accounts for this things. Sometimes we can't help but be tempted to swipe for not so important things we see in the mall. Thank ypou for sharing pal ;)

I get about 6 of these a month. I just chuck them into the garbage. They just cost too much money. Look at what it cost you every month. I'ed rather have the cash to spend on something beside interest and a payment. I do have a credit card but as soon as I can get it paid off no more of them for me. I'll save up the cash for what I want and have an emergence fund instead of relying on a credit card for it.

It is because they saw your credit score or your transaction using your credit cards. If they think you are a good payer through your cc, they will be the one to send you a card. But it is up to you if you will accept it or disregard it. It is happening normally. BUT you have to consider also the percent interest and not just accept the credit card. If you are a good payer, more points you get and probably more cc will offer to you.

Do have a good look at the figures. Interests, charges and the like...
Since you already have two credit cards, do you really need another one? You have got to pay off al the money you use on them eventually so do you need to get into more debt?
The current economic climate is not very great and I would not take any more credit even that handed to me on a plate (ummm, through the mail box too)

I've had the same experience a few months before. I had always wanted my own credit card because it helped make payments easier. But no one really approved my application because I didn't have a job yet and my only source of income is from the allowance that my parents gives me. Anyway, one credit card company finally sent me a gold MasterCard which made me really happy! I guess these credit card companies just need to be careful when screening applicants so I don't mind getting rejected.

definitely a big yes. it is possible. if your card was disapproved before, the agent who processed your application reapplied again. that's the reason why you got your card. since the agent knew the reason why you were disapproved before, they try to reapply and making it a big percentage of approval for the card for wanted. but the disadvantage of that, they can processed it on different cards too without your knowledge or approval, just for the heck of making a money out of it. its about disclosing your legal information and you cannot control to get hold of it as soon as you gave it out with supporting documents. its called networking-call center marketing strategy.
