I noticed mine about 2 years ago. Mostly at the temples. I'm dark blond and it is not too much of a contrast with my hair color. I can cover it by brushing my hair a certain way. But it is definitely there. Recently I highlighted my hair and it seems to be covered.
I'm 44 and that means it started to show when I was about 42. How about you? How much gray are you trying to cover right now? Are you even bothering to cover it? When did it start?
If your gray began early, what was that like?

It was awful! I started going gray around 19 and it was, for many years, right in the middle of the wave in front. I got really tired of women asking me how I did that, and did I get it done at a beauty salon, things like that. By my mid-thirties it had started to spread all over the rest of my head. Thank goodness! Now, almost all of my hair is gray and no one asks me anything about it

WOW I wish I could say I was only starting to go gray at 42 :) I first started noticing I was going white when I was 19 . I say white because it was never gray I had it has always been white hairs . I am now 37 and dye my hair all the time because if I didn't I would estimate that the whole right side of my head would be white . It is weird because it is more on my right side then on my left although I do have white there as well . I am not sure how much white I would have if I didn't dye it cause I have been dying it for years to try and hide it and I dye it blond so it does blend in and have never let the full color come out in many many years . I was born with blond hair but it started to turn brown when I was five and has been brown ever since but for some reason I am unable to dye the white and if I was to dye my hair brown , my natural color it would not cover the white so the blond at least blends it in so it is not as noticable . And I have been told by many that the blond suits me more then my nautral color because I am too light skinned to have such dark hair . I assume that I will one day be one of them little ladies that walk around with snow white hair and I would not mind this if I was older , much older lol . I only turned 36 in August and see so many that are much older then me comlaining about a couple of gray hair and wonder what happened to me to make me go white so young lol .

King Solomon in Proverbs 20:29 said: "The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head." Imagine it is beauty...so maybe we should bother less with the grey hair showing up our head because of age.
I started having few grey hairs when I was about 45 and I was bothered even if they were but few so I'd pull them out each time they'd show up. Now that I am 52 I noticed the grey hair have increased but not too much for me to dye. I still do ask my niece to pull them out once in a while but I am now less bothered especially when I read that verse in the Bible. We will all grow old anyway and grey hair is part of it so I need not bother. Afterall it is my glory.

I personally do not have any gray hair...yet. My husband, on the other hand seems to get a little grayer each day. Yes, I tease him about it because he is only 24. If you think this is bad, his brother started turning gray when he was 14. Seriously!!

That is the youngest I have ever heard of. Although I did know a little girl who was born with a pigment condition on her scalp, right in the area of her bangs that gave her a white streak. She had it all her life. But that is almost like a birth mark really. Your brother in law on the other hand.......

I am fifty now and my grey hair has not really sprout out fully yet. I still enjoy seeing my black hair dominating my crowning glory. I don't deny that there are one two places on my head but can hardly be noticed. Thanks to coconut oil that I used frequently. It has sort of slowdown the grey hair. No I don't intend to cover up the grey hairs even it covers my whole head. We just have to accept reality that we are seasoned people and are reaching our golden years.

Oh that's too bad. But there are some reason or facts why people gets gray hair. Gray hair appears depends with your age, stess and most of all hereditary. Gray hair can be harder to cover as it is more resistant to haircolor or hair dye due adecrease amount of melanin. Whew! I am lucky that I don't have gray hair yet but I know I may have them when I get older but that's normal so I am not worried at all.

Hi ya rocketj1
Ok don't rub it in!! I am 37 and have maybe one or two strands that I can see, I dare say there are more there but either I can't see them or I am in complete denial!! . They are by my temples too, I have dark brown hair and I don't try and cover them up maybe I will when they become really obvious!!

Oh my gosh - I'm 28 and I have started to notice pure white hairs right at the front of my parting (i.e. where it meets my forehead, as it were). Right where they are visible!!
I've coloured my hair ever since I was about 18, just for fun really, not because I needed to - it's naturally a mousey kind of dark blonde which I found very boring. I've been everything from bleach blonde (briefly) through to flame orange (again, briefly) to dark mahogany (for about a year) but for the last five or six years have settled for a kind of golden/caramel blonde, sometimes with paler blonde highlights - when I can afford them!
Now that I've found these whiteys though, I'll have to double my efforts to keep on top of them!
T :o)

I say , and I say this now because at 28 I have not seen any yet, bring it on! I think it will signify yes I am growing older and there is not anything wrong with that , although I could do w/o the wrinkles and that is starting to happen around my eyes and smile . :D I do laugh a lot though so eh , if its stop laughing or have wrinkles bring the wrinkles :D

I don't have any yet, just white. But I I probably will get some soon. But I hope not, I didn't know that people can get gray hair at a young age. I hope I don't get any until 30 years later.
My sister likes to pull my white hair, kinda dumb though.

Whoa there! Don't be too scared about having gray hair. Yeah, yeah, gray hairs do not look good and to some extent, they do make you look older but the good news is that according to my mom, grey hairs are signs of wisdom. :) Just look at the bright side of things, at least you look a lot wiser with your gray hair.

I had my first white hair just a week ago. it stands out from the rest of my hair and since its white its really very noticeable. The first time i saw it i felt a bit weird, i feel like im getting old. By the way im just 22 years old, and i plan to keep my one and only white hair. Its like a remembrance to me. hehe.

Yes, I do. I am only 30 and I have about 3 to 4 strands in my hair. This started when I was about 18-22 years of age.. I have a long strand in the back of my hair. My aunt told me that that was a sign of good luck and wisdom, I just hope so.. Trust me, you are not the only one to feel annoyed by this. When I see the gray hair, I feel like I am getting older. But, in my face I look like I am 18 or 19 years old.. So, it all just goes on to how you feel inside, and look on the outside, that tells your true age.

I guess for me, before I look in the mirror, I think that I look one way (young) and then I see the reality. Gray hair is just another one of those things saying "Hey, you are getting older". What's really weird is when I see my mom in the mirror looking back at me. When did I start to look like my MOM!lol
Thanks!

Funnily enough and quite annoying too, I have some few strands of white hair and I am only 22. I don't know, it seems weird my hair kinda multi-colored, there are brown, goldish and white strands, very weird. Anyone who saw it really ask me if I colored my hair or got highlighted it. There are people as well that teased me about being old or quite wondered why I got one. At first I am kinda sensitive with it but later on, I am used with the questioning and teasing.

I was a medium reddish blonde for years. I think my first gray/white hairs came in around 37 or 38. There were just a few in front and they were "different" than the rest. They would not cooperated with styling at all. When I asked my stylist about them, she grinned, and said, "Welcome to old age." I didn't think that was funny at all.
As the years past, the colors changed. At one time, my stylist said I had about 15 different colors of blonde/white throughout my hair. The blessing of being blonde, I guess, was that people continued to think that I was intentionally streaking my hair.
Now, at 56, what used to be a pretty shade of blonde is now more mousey. And there are more grays and whites than blonde hairs. But I don't mind.
In fact, I almost hope that I'll go entirely white like my mother did at about 60ish.
