Our current dog is locked in the utility room at night, because if not he goes round the house, chewing everything he finds - the other day it was a pair of my husband's underwear.
We usually have let our dogs sleep wherever they want, but most of them have chosen to sleep downstairs, usually by the front door.
We did have a doberman a long time ago, and he always slept outside our bedrooms, and during the night, he would go into every room and put his nose under the covers to make sure we were still there. One night when my brother stayed out all night, the dog was a mess. He kept roaming the house trying to find him!
Personally, I don't let pets on the beds, so not even the cat gets a look in there.

My dog. Hmm. Sometimes it slept in the bed, sometimes on the floor in me and my sis's bedroom, sometimes in the living room. Depends on her. But mostly it's in the bedroom and on the bed.

I wold never allow my dog to sleep on my bed. If you let him sleep in your bed, you are making him the master of the house and you will find it difficult to give him orders.

I have two Mini Dachshunds that sleep with me...when I first got them they slept in a crate; but Monica, the female would get lonely about four in the morning and I would have to get up with her. Since I have allowed them to sleep with me I haven't had problems with either of them.
If the dogs are larger, they aren't allowed to sleep on the bed. If it's started when they're puppies, then when they get to 70 to 150 pounds you're the one who gets to sleep on the floor! (LOL)
My bed is a riot to see as I have four cats and the two dogs sleeping on the bed. It looks like an animal blanket! (LOL)

My dogs don't sleep with me, but they have their own beds. In the summer they
sleep in the bedroom with me cause I have a window AC unit in there and it's cooler. They sleep in the closet. It's a double door closet and they each sleep on one side. In the winter they have a human single sized bed in another room that has a warm blanket on it. On that bed they sleep butt to butt and Kate actually has a pillow.

She was kennel trained also, for the first year we had her, we got her at 8 weeks old. Since then she has slept with us sometimes. Normally she starts out up on the foot of the bed on my side, but she doesn't stay up there too long, then she sleeps on the floor next to the bed. Then after my s/o gets up in the morning she will get back on the bed with me until I get up.

My dog sleeps downstairs, and he just sleeps wherever he wants there, on the floor or on the lounge, but he basically does not like to sleep in my bed. If I carry him upstairs and try to get him to sleep here, he will jump off and sleep in the corner, or on top of a pile of clothes. He likes to be alone, like me.

Our brussels griffon sleeps in her kennel at night. Our big mutt, which not even the vet has a clue what he is, sleeps under the kids' bed or at the front of the hallway. He is our protector and wants to be in front of all of the bedrooms most of the time where he can watch over everyone. They have never slept in our beds. They have never really tried to sleep in our beds. I don't think that they want to. So, it works out for everyone. I have found the big dog in bed with our daughters a few times, but for the most part, he is content to sleep where he can watch over all of us.

Right now, my puppy is too young to jump from places only 2 feet from the floor. So, until he's old enough to know how to jump and not break a bone, he has his own bed. Now, when he does get much bigger, I know for a fact that he'll follow me to bed and sleep in the bed with me. The good thing is that I don't share the bed with anyone- except the occasional cat, so there will plenty of room!!
