I have a bit of bad News on my Gissi
I had to take him to the Vet 2 Days ago as he was very sick with his Anal Glance and Skin Condition he was not eating and all he wanted was sit on my Lap and have his skin rubbed by me
Well the Vet emptied the Glance, gave him an Injection to settle the Skin and checked on Fleas
He had none. I then mentioned to the Vet about the Fits he has now and again and how he breathes most of the time, so the Vet checked him over, he checked Gissi's Heart first and had to look no further, he asked me if I knew that Gissi had a Heart Murmur, I didn't know and I was shocked.
So now I know what the Fits are that he has, he only has them now and again so the Vet said that he is ok for now but if he gets them every Day I am to take him in fast as he will need to go on Medication because his Heart is failing
Well at least now I know what I am dealing with
He is still the same old Gissi lol as you can see on the Avatar he got caught by me on the Laptop
If your Pet starts having like a coughing and choking Fit and choking as though trying to bring up Flem please take it to the Vet as that is a sign of Problems with their Heart
But I just want to say that Gissi is ok and of course I will make sure that he will live a full Life

I am sorry to hear about Gissi's heart murmur. But, I am glad to know that he will be ok. Thank you for the helpful info too. That may be helpful in the future.
You are a very good Mommy for getting down to the bottom of what was wrong with Gissi. Gissi is very lucky to have you as his Mommy.
Give Gissi a hug for me!

It is good that you informed people. I have had dogs all my life to and never knew that. I have a heart murmur as well so, while I don't know if the same kind of symptoms translate to humans as dogs, it could be good knowledge for me as well.
And, I have 3 cats and a dog so, I will keep my eyes and ears open for such behavior. To my knowledge, none of them have heart murmurs. Their vet always listens to their hearts when we take them in for their annual checkups and they always give them all good grades on their report cards as far as their hearts are involved.
So, it is really good that you shared this with everyone. Thank you!

You mentioned his age at one time, but it was long enough that I forgot. Back about 30 years ago (1977) when this doggie was ready, my parents & I had adopted one of the puppies, & he lived until 1992. I have heard it being said that was a long life for a doggie.
I am thinking you've better go get cookie so she can keep an eye on him.

Poor Gissi. Wish he didn't have the heart murmur but least now you know and don't have to keep wondering. He may live a fulfilling life regardless. Give him a great big hug and kiss for me, Gabs. Let him know we are all praying for him. (((((((BIG HUGS))))))

Rest assured, gabs, that I am sending healing thoughts Gissis way. I know how much you love the little fellow. The good thing is that modern medicine can do wonders to help maintain a relatively normal lifestyle for both humans and animals with congenital conditions such as this. I truly hope that your Gissi will be around for many years to come.

It's nice to see you here again gabs....but sorry about Gissi's heart problem. My dog had asthma....and when I would walk him I had to be careful that I didn't take him places where the could have a reaction to pollen etc! Like you said though...at least you know what you are up against!

Well I thought that is what Gissi had at first but when I told the Vet the Symptoms he checked Gissi's Heart which my Daughter always said was not beating normal as she called it lol and he told me the Problem, where the ones in the past used to say it is a cough
It is awful when it happens he is really coughing, trying to breathe and then he starts choking really bad as though something is stuck in his Throat
I am glad to be back with my good Friends

i am glad to see you once again, gabs.
i am also very glad to hear there is nothing terribly, terribly
wrong with gissi.
you are correct, a heart murmur needs monitored, however, a
pet can live a long, very loved and spoiled life with one.

gabs, I am delighted to see that you are back again and I hope you are feeling a lot better. I thought the worse when I started reading this topic about Gissi and I was so glad when I got to the end and found that he was ok. Such a relief! Well, it is good to see that you are both doing well and also that you are back posting again.

It is good to know that Gissi is doing much better now. Yes, the vets are good for helping our pets. Our local vet is wonderful with Lizzie and Gizmo. He is so patient and tender. He takes his time and talks to them a lot.

Oh goodness, I'm sorry to hear little Gissi hasn't been doing well but so very pleased he's Ok. Although sure he didn't like his trip to the vet to horribly much. Nice to see you back but must admit I'm not here much due to living conditions and all but still learking in the back ground. Give Gissi a hug from Auntie Faith and sending one your way also.

It's so nice to see you back here again gabs, we missed you!
I had a dog once who had a heart murmur, but she lived till she was 12, so I wouldn't worry unnecessarily about it. Just make sure Gissi doesn't get over- excited, and he should be fine, especially under your TLC!
Welcome back my friend!

Hi gabs,
It's wonderful to see your discussion pop up in my in box again. I am very sorry to hear about Gissi, but am glad the vet was able to relieve the symptoms. It's good that you know about the heart murmur now, as you'll know exactly what's causing the problem, if and when it occurs. To me, Gissi is full of spunk, and is always ready to get into mischief, which means he's definitely living a full life. I trust he'll be with you for many wonderful years to come. Take care. Love, and Big Hugs to you.

Dear Gabs!
So sorry to hear of Gissi but I know it will be a relief to you to know the cause of this and you can get him the help he needs!
For me, it has been a kind of somber day...for obvious reasons and so I have not really been around here as I have been spending extra time with my son!
I do hope Gissi is feeling better now and you as well!
Love and Hugs!

Hi gabs..sorry I'm late in responding to this. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Gissi hasn't been doing to well and you now found out he has a heart murmur. But I'm sure his mum will take care of him. Mmmm...be careful about letting Gissi to near your laptop...not only might he sneak on to write to us, but he might want to order some special treats...LOL
Glad to see you back again gabs

hi Gabs
glad to see you back again, i'm sorry i was deleted off your friends list, but i think you were feeling down and needed to know who your real friends were as things were difficult for you. i am glad to see you have lots of friends again on your site. thats really good. Anyway i just want to say, i am really sorry about Gissi. i only met him once but he was a real little dear and i can see by all your posts and on gissi's site, that you and he are really inseparable. i have a dog and cats too, i would be devastated if any thing happened to any of them. so i know how you are feeling. but truly, my old poodle had a heart murmer for years and he lived until 19. Sadly i had to have him put to sleep as he had 2 tumours, one on his neck and one at the base of his tail. the vet said he had gone through old age and out the other side!! so a long and happy and very content life for your gissi. with the good care and love may he go on for ever. i miss seeing his posts on mylot. hope he feels up to putting his paws on the keys very soon!
