Could you relate to and recall awful experiences which was in ways was unfortunate, inexcusable, where things just did not work out the way they were supposed to be , but when you reflect upon them today, they seem to bring back fond memories and now those moments seem to be fun filled, exciting and wish you could in ways relive or experience them again. They could be excursions, a get together, a date, anything actually....

She was hurt, lost and living like a cadaver. Had left her place for her sister’s. It takes about 1 day to reach there by train. Lost and sad that she was, she had planned to get down in on of the unknown stations never to return. But little did she know that someone had got on to the same train just to stop him from what she wanted to. They had always shared a love-hate kind of relationship. That was the dread fullest of days and she was hardly living and had not that friend showed up she wouldn’t be here to share this experience with you. That girl still dazed but little less lost has high regard for her friend. Even though this is not fun remembering, not even excitement, more of chilling sensation - this would be my awful yet fond memories for you. Thank you.

I'm glad you took this meaning of experiences and memories beyond the examples that i had given. Experiences and moments like these are not forgotten and are certainly not fun remembering. But like in your instance there are certain instances, certain actions and certain people who with their selfless actions always make part of these past incidents special and will always bring about feelings of regard and fond memories. Thanks for sharing this Mimpi.

At the same time we should take these moments and the memories to get the best out life Mimpi. After all this is what friends and family want for us.

Alok Leave alone forgetting, I would never overcome that guilt of that sense of void and lack of self esteem that could have done my parents unhappy. At the same time I could never acknowledge enough of that friend's greatness. I can never get out of that day ever!

My paternal grandmother stayed in the hospital for a couple months. Her children decided to split the days of taking care of her among them. One child is responsible for the care and the visitors for one day of the week but that hasn't stopped my other uncles and aunts and my cousins to show up on their non-designated dates. Even though we all were worried about my grandmother's condition, such event brought the family even closer.

That is a very relevant example that you have shared. Any event in our lives which brings the family together always has special and fond memories. Thanks and have a wonderful day.

I'm not even close to being a saint, morninglory. And I hope you're doing okay considering you've just gone through a similar situation. My grandmother was released from the hospital and was driven in an ambulance to get home to my uncle's house where she'll still be provided medical care by an in-home nurse. I was really excited to get home from school that day knowing my dad and I would be driving over. Sadly, she passed away just as the ambulance reached my uncle's gate.

Goodness..... I can think of many actually! lol. There are many classroom incidents when I was at school and wishing to be the centre of attention that ended up pretty bad for me at the time; but when I think back on them now I laugh and wish I could be that cheeky once again! Same goes for a number of sporting experiences such as making a dumb fumbling mistake and missing a try in a game of rugby or wanting to be the hero in baseball that smacks it out of the park and then striking out instead..... One big stand out for me was being in a bit of a daze after going to the school dentist as a child and getting on the wrong school bus. I ended up back at some school I didn't even know! At the time it was quite scary actually because I was surrounded by faces and scenery I didn't know at all. One of the Teacher's of my own school had to drive some time to come and get me! Now when I look back on it I find it very amusing.

The wrong school bus ! and landing up in a a different school. I could only have imagined what that must have felt like then.. Looking back at some of the unpleasant experiences of our childhood and growing up days most certainly brings back fond memories, even some very amusing ones as in your case James. Thanks for the response.

The experience I wish to share has some bitter memories instead of found memories and I learnt a lesson from it. Donot know whether it fits in your discussion or not, yet I am writing :- Many months ago, one fine morning a smart looking, English speaking stranger knocked at my door. He was literally crying and was in tears, he told me that he was from Jaipur and he came to my city last night and somebody pick-pocketed all his belonging, he did not have any money to manage his return journey. He pleaded with me with folded hands that I must atleast give him Rs.100/- so that he could go back. I felt pity on his state of affairs and offered him the required amount. He honestly promised that as soon as he would reach his house, he would send the express Money Order to repay my money. He was young and was appearing a very genuine fellow to me, I thought I must help him, as no one was willing to buy his story. Though, my wife asked me indirectly not to believe such strangers, I ignored her advice and instead I argued with her - "this might happen to even me, if I am visiting any other city", so I must help him out. However, my belief did not come out correct, that fellow left and thanked me but he never returned the money till date. In nutshell, I felt cheated. After that I decided not to help strangers, come what may. This was quite a bitter experience and a lesson for me.

Dpk, The bitter memories are always there, and I have had a similar experience but the amount of money involved was much much more. I still would not hesitate to help strangers who are in need, only would be more cautious. I'm sure there would be some experiences which would bring back fond memories, and when you do get them feel free to share them here. Thanks
