Well, you would probably not be able to do it, I think. The sobbing is the heaving breathing, which, well, you can't breathe underwater. So I think you would be too busy drowning and going into survival mode to cry! I think if you had an air supply, you might be able to cry.

Yes one can cry underwater :) Have you never cried while taking a shower ? I find the shower a great place to go and cry and no one ever knows as they don't hear you and when you get out you look better then when you got in the shower :) The same as being able to smile or pout underwater , one can also cry underwater .

I'm sure you can, but I've never gotten sad underwater to try it out.

Sure you can i have cried underwater when I was laughing so hard that I was crying when I was at the beach with friends. We can cry anywhere and even in the water you just don't see that someoen is crying cause the water hides the tears on your face:P

Of course you can cry underwater.
Crying is simply fluid leaving your eyes via your tear ducts. One might even say that crying doesn't involve tears at all, but only the racking sobs associated with them. Doing it underwater simply means that the fluid leaving your tear ducts mixes with the surrounding solution immediately instead of being exposed to the air.
In any case, under enough pressure, your body would implode, and crying would be a moot point
