I'm in the U.S. but served in the Marine Corps for more than 21 years and had the opportunity to visit other countries during that time. My first trip abroad was to Japan for the entire year of 1982. I had short trips to London and Korea, and although we know Hawaii is part of the United States, it is still in another part of the world. I served there for three years, from 1990-1993.

Hi Ldyjarhead; I guess you must be in Okinawa, Japan since US Marine Corps camp is in Okinawa. I was n Okinawa in 1989-1990. That is my first time abroad. I had the opportunities to visit US Camp Foster & Cardena base. I fell like been in US while in the US Navy Camp. Actually my first time in US was in 2003 to Washington DC. Very funny experience for 1st time in US:- Our flight from KL landing at LA. I change the time to US time (actually LA time). Took another flight to DC. Arrive 12 midnight my time. Nobody wait at the airport to fetch me to the hotel. I took a cab and manage to check-in at the hotel. Next morning I wake up and went down for breakfast at 7am and.... "excuse me sir, what do you want"? ask the waiter "breakfast" I reply She reply back "Oh sorry, breakfast end at 11" "Yes I know. Now 7.30am" I reply back "Now is 11.30am DC time" Then I realise LA & DC got different time. IN the first place I cannot imageine how in one country got more than one time. Ha ha ha it's first time in US!.

No, I wasn't on Okinawa, I was on mainland Japan. The Marine Corps has a large air station at Iwakuni as well, not all that far from Hiroshima. The nearest town of any size is Kaintai (sp) if I remember correctly.

First time was to Indonesia. About earlier this year I went there. Nice place to hang out to. Even though the food out there is not up to my taste but there are few places that serves me well. What more that I'll learn more about people there. You had the experience to understand the people as well their culture. I love to go there ..next year maybe..

I thought Malaysia and Indonesia food are about the same. There are many Indonesian food in Malaysia too. By the way, which part of Indonesia did you go?. Maybe there got only local foods which not up to your taste. One more things, Indonesian currency is very low. It's make visitors fell like millionaires in Indonesia.

I traveled to France when I was a child but I think that I visited for the first time too young to remember. So therefore I will say that my first trip abroad was when I was 14 years old to Greece. I flew with my mum from London to Athens. We went to the island of Spetse and we were able to sightsee around Athens on our last day before flying home. Our flight was about 3 and a half hours. The weather in Greece was really hot that year and I came home with really sunburned shoulders. I am really keen on traveling and that was the first trip abroad of many. Since then I have discovered my favorite countries: Samoa, Australia, New Zealand, Belize and the Seychelles. I adore traveling and it is my top hobby.

Im from the Philippines, but now live at Ibaraki Ken Japan. But 12 years ago, my first time abroad is at Singapore. I worked at a cruise ship that time, and Singapore is our main port. But get to go to Malaysia too and our port of call was at Langkawi, Penang, Melacca and Phuket Thailand and Medan Indonesia. So its like 4 birds in one stones. I really enjoyed the food in Penang Malaysia and the beautiful beach in Langkawi. Hope someday I can get back at those places again.
