my brother suffer's from this sleeping disorder which oftentimes causes him embarassment. medically its called bruxism or the gnashing/grinding of teeth accompanied by clinching of jaw while asleep or taking short naps. he works in a non-government organization that provides technical assistance to farmers communities so this often requires him to do field work and sleep in beneficiaries homes. because of his disorder, he often disrupts his co-workers' and host families' sleep. most of the time, he waits for others to sleep before he does. or he has to find a spot to sleep where her the sound of his teeth grinding wont be causing disturbance to others. old folks say that having bruxism brings you bad luck. to counter bad luck. you have to hit the person with bruxism in the face, with an old slipper, while grinding his teeth. and then you have to throw the slipper afterwards. this practice they say will put a stop to the teeth grinding. me and my siblings and cousins had done this to her for countless times and had thrown countless slippers, but the disorder persists. some say, bruxism is related to stress and anxiety. this could be true because my brother usually has the worst bruxism episodes when he's really tired. a friend of his' also said, bruxism is linked to a weak spleen. whether this is true or not. we do not know. has anyone any idea how to treat this disorder for good?
