It's a shame that my local grocery store doesn't sell sushi. And I don't think it's hard to make it, but I have no clue how to and I doubt it would taste the same. Sushi is sooo good that I could live off of it. Some people won't even try the stuff. How does it really seem that gross?

I get tired of the same foods too. But some foods may take a long time for me to get bored with, like sushi.

making sushi is not difficult...take your time to learn it...once u can make the rice taste good , than u may proceed to another level.Means make the salmon, unagi, crabstick and etc...
just my opinion

I agree with you. I'm planning on buying some as soon as I move into my new place and making some sushi!

Sushi is delicious! But I dare not try raw fish meat. Because per our norm here, uncooked food are having risk of infection by eggs or worms. If we consume such raw food, we might become the host of these parasites. However, I still like sushi, but I will choose those without raw meat, eg like tamago, inari & etc. Making sushi is not complicated because I had tried it with my ex before. Basically it's about preparing the short-grain rice with vinegar. And the seaweed wrapper and other side ingredients. I am surprised that sushi is not available in your local store. I thought it's popular in many countries in the world.

Yeah well I live in a VERY small town. We have a Wal-Mart and 2 Food Lions. But no sushi in either one. But if I go into the city, their is a Kroger with sushi. I just wish it were closer.

Well I see. Now I understand your frustration. It would be troublesome to travel a distance to the far away city too often. Hey, I got an idea. Why not you learn how to make sushi, and sell sushi in your town. Of course, this is provided that the people in your town could accept it. If majority of them do not like sushi, then this explains why no people dare to operate a sushi selling business there, and you are strongly advised not to do so as well.

If I think about it in another perspective I can see when people here raw anything, they immediately hate it. But even if someone doesn't like fish, I think they might like it because I don't think it tastes like cooked fish. You know, like that fishy taste because I'm not a big fish eater either.

i love eating sushi! at 1st i was hesitant to eat a raw food but then after the 1st bite i can't help myself alreayd. lol. well sushi is not that gross its actually an acquired taste plus the fact that some people are really not into raw foods. i have one friend she wanted to taste a sushi & after the 1st bite her stomach got upset & she vomitted lie crazy. poor her. when i'm craving i would immediately rush to one jap restaurant but at times since it's cheaper i would go to the grocery & buy 1 pack of frozen blue marlin & eat it all. boy i love wasabe too!

Yeah, most people seem to get grossed out by the fact that it is raw. But I wasn't hesitant to give it a try. I like my steaks medium rare to rare. That sounds like my husband. He threw up just from the smell of tuna. And I love wasabi too. But it tastes even better when mixed with soy sauce.

I love eating sushi with a lot of crab in it. We even have fruit sushi in a few places. I never understanded why people think sushi is disgusting. I bet 1/2 never even tried it.

I know, most people won't even try it. It doesn't even taste like fish or raw-like.
