Why Do We Lose Good People....

My family is rather distraut at this time. A dear friend of my daughter, a vibrant 28 year old mother of two, was diagnosed one week ago with cancer and is dying and nothing can be done except wait for the call. This is happening entirely too fast. This young person was a part of our family for many years and to me, it's like losing my own child.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this trying time. This young lady was a sucessful, happy person with everything going for her. A nice home, good job, good husband and wonderful children ages 4 years old and 15 months. These babies will no longer have a mother to nurture them as they grow. All her husband can do is watch as his world crumble around him, a world once filled with many hopes and dreams.
As the saying goes, "the good die young" while, in the meantime, our streets are filled with thugs, commiting crimes, peddling drugs and goodness only knows what else.
What on earth justifies this?
My mother always told me that we're not supposed to question God but how can we not, especially at a time like this.
I'm not a real religious person, but I have my religious beliefs. I don't feel that you have to go to church every Sunday to believe in God. I know people who go to church and as soon as they leave they're commiting a crime or sinning. I guess going to church makes them feel better about themselves at the time.
Does God have control over everything? I was taught that He has our lives planned out for us from birth. What reason is there for taking a good person only to let the evil ones remain on this earth?

Well, I think that even when horrible things happen to good people, they will have their day, and they will learn to cope with the help of friends and family, who can help raise the poor children, and help the husband cope with balancing supporting his family and spending time with them. I wish them the best.

Thanks for your response, Sheepie. It will take time, but I'm sure the family will begin to heal after experiencing this horrible life event. My heart also goes out to her parents and brother for I know they are going through hell at this time. She, as well as her mother, are very spirited women and I'm afraid that her mother will be broken by the time this is over.
