How Do You Get More Readers To Your Blog

I have been blogging for over 1 year about trying to make money of the internet. What I really would like to know is how to get readers to the blog? I do many traffic exchanges but currently just have my ptc sites advertised. Should I advertise my blog instead and see what traffic I can get? Or is there any other method that you have that works. Any comments on my blog's appearance would be appreciated as I would like it to be informational to those just trying to make some extra income. Thanks in advance
