Can you find it in your heart to forgive and forget?

I was just going through a drawer I have full of memories, you know that drawer that has old cards, letters photos etc. Well I came across a picture of someone I was involved with many years ago. We had kind of an up and down relationship, and it brought back old memories, some I would rather not remember. I do not dwell on the hurt that was put on me anymore, so I am wondering if I have completely forgotten and forgave this person.
I must have, because I haven't thought about him until I saw the photo.
Are you able to forget and forgive?

I can forgive but i cant forget things that happen. It doesnt mean im still holding grudges. Its just that it reminds me to be wiser and aware that i need to be wiser this time so i wont be fooled again. It will take time though before i can finally forgive and able to talk about the past without feeling the pain anymore. I always believe that to forgive is the best thing you could do not just for the person who hurt you but for yourself as well. When you have no more anger in your heart. It is a good feeling to wake up everyday without hating anybody.

That is so true. I haven't thought of this person in a long time, then I saw the photo today. Funny thing, I did not tear it up, I guess because I was in it.

There are rare times when I forgive, and almost no times when I can forget. I try to be open to people's weaknesses, but not if they've been hurtful.

Absolutely. And the sooner the better for your own well-being. Time heals everything.
I had an ex that turned my stomach every time I thought of him, after we split. Ater a few years my hatred turned to indifference and years after that I bumped into him a couple of times and we chatted like old friends. There were no sparks and no bitterness. Just two human beings.
It's nice to think of the good memories though isn't it? It's part of your life, your history, enjoy it. :)

Oh yeah, that drawer full of stuff brought back so many good memories. I still have holiday cards my son made for me when he was small. the point was to clean it out and get rid of some of it. Well, not much got thrown away
