I heard that we just lost Paul Newman. He had played many great roles. So when you hear the name Paul Newman, which film comes to mind? For me, it has to be The Hustler. It is one of his signature roles. No could have played Fast Eddie. It is a shame that he didn't get the Oscar for this role.Another favorite is Absence Of Malice.Paul was timeless. Usually an actor loses some of his charm when gets older, but not Paul.I think he was more intense and sexy when He played in Absence of Malice then when he played in The Hustler. He was in some many other great films. And he directed many others. What is your favorite Paul Newman role or should I say favorites?

I really liked him in The Sting, and The Three Faces of Eve. I've been meaning to watch The three Faces of Eve again for a long time. Now all I need to do is track down a copy. I saw it years ago and I really enjoyed the movie. Now I want to see it again.

Like many I haven't seen Paul Newman movies in the theatre. There was in fact only one, and that was "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". It was an "event" movie; I mean, one you just had to see. It made Robert Redford into a superstar and consolidated Newman's status as possibly the biggest film star in the world. I loved it; it was just superb, so funny, so exciting, so stylish. I went with my mum and best friend to the local flea pit. Before the movie started I ate some chocolate, and the proceeded to blow on my glasses to clean them (I was vain; only got the goggles out when I had to); thereby "frosting" the lenses with a fine chocolaty coating. My best buddy couldn't contain himself for laughter.

A flea-pit is an old British slang term for a run-down theatre/movie theatre.

I never got to see any Paul Newman films in the theater. The only time my dad tried I was about two and I don't remember any of it. He tried to take me to Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.I was told that he went to get popcorn or something and left me in the theater and I cried through the whole film. I don't think he ever got to see the film.

I learned this news via the net. Frankly, I haven't watched a lot of old movies and this is why I am not familiar with Paul Newman. I searched some of his information and he is quite a handsome man. He is also one of the greatest actors in USA. He is very generous and kind and he has donated quite a big amount to the charity. He has a good marriage and they celebrated their gold wedding anniversary this year. I think I will watch his movie called The Hudsucker Proxy.
I love China

I checked and he didn't do any sci-fi but if you like Braveheart, you may like Exodus. If you like Shawshank, you may like Cool Hand Luke.City of angels is so unique that I am not sure there is a Paul Newman film like it.

Bythe time I got to see Butch Cassidy I had crushes on both men.It was great to see them work together. Funny, I didn't like The Sting. I just couldn't get into it.

My favorite Newman role was Ari Ben Canaan in Exodus. The movie was made in, while memories of the Holocaust and of the founding of the State of Israel were still both very new. I fell in love with Newman as Ari, and I never quite got over that affair of the heart. Newman was young and handsome, with a strong commitment to social justice. For me, it was the perfect combination for a screen idol.

I know...I was stunned as I was sitting having my breakfast today with the radio on and heard of his passing. While he was in so many great, classic films, for some reason the one that comes to my mind right away is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...maybe as it was a break from his more serious roles.

I think they will.I heard somewhere that Paul ran Newman's Own with one of his daughters. If that is true, I know she will carry on.
