Being from Empire, Louisiana, we could just go across the street to the dock when we wanted seafood, or one of the family was always dropping off a few pounds. And god how I miss it as we are relocated up north after Hurricane Katrina, the shrimp in the stores are put there with out putting any water in the bags before freezing them and when you cook them it is like eating card board. We used to cook shrimp stew, and boiled shrimp, shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, steak and shrimp. But I like stuffed shrimp the best. Some one in the family was always having big shrimp boils, and they would lay it out on a big table and you could eat all you wanted. There is one Chinese resturant here that has boiled shrimp that really taste like what we get down home. Even Red Lobster doesn't really have much of a shrimp taste, but I guess that is from being able to get it fresh out of the gulf, rather than frozen in a bad.

i love fresh gulf shrimp. there was one time i was down in key west on a tug boat and the shrimpers were comming in. we bought some fresh off the boat and they were so huge it was like 5 to a lb. ive never seen them that large before then. they were so mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm m m .
sorry about you being misplaced. i have been down to new orleans and went all the way down to pilot city. the airport was still closed down so i had to fly into gulport and then we drove all the way down and the devistation was just so unbelieveble. tv just isnt enough to encompass the true damage that katrina did.
good luck on getting back down there

I love eating shrimps in 3 particular ways. First, sauteed in spicy cajun sauce and topped on steaming white rice. Next, I love it battered and fried, the popcorn style and lastly, I love it with any kind of pasta, as long as the sauce is cheesy, garlicky, creamy alfredo.
Shrimps are very versatile. You can do a whole lot of dish with it. It is just a bit expensive, especially the extra large ones. In parties when I cant think of any fast appetizers, cocktail shrimps and marinara sauce are my saviour!
