Do you know the role of the screen saver?I heard that it's can extend the service life of the dispay,alst can save power.

They used to prevent an image from being burned into the screen, these days it's just a novelty most of the time.

The only role of screen saver is to save energy consumed by the monitor.Italso make the computer screen good looking in idle position.

as far as i know, back in the 90's, screensavers are actually used to "save the screen". back then, when the computer and the screen is idle, some parts of the monitor screen tend to "burn" due to being idle. thus, they developed the screensaver to keep the screen "moving". but that was back then..
nowadays, monitor screens have been further developed to avoid such "burns". and thus, screensavers are now used for leisure and display purposes.

The last responder is correct, but CRT displays, even today can get screen burn if you leave the same image on the screen for too long. I just usually have my screen go blank. That saves power and avoids screen burn.
