Hi jasonroselle, I’m from Malaysia and rice is our staple food as well. We usually take rice as our daily three meals together with some or more delicious dishes. We love spicy and hot dishes like curry and sambal (spicy shrimp and chili paste) the most. I won’t feel bored and enjoy taking rice all the time. Anyway I still could eat meal without rice. Sometimes I would like to take noodles, breads, pizza or fried chicken as my daily meal. But my husband would always feel hungry if he doesn’t take any rice for a single meal. posting and have a nice day.

Yeah, my husband always feels like still having an empty stomach though he has tasted all the seven or more dishes served while attending wedding or other occasion dinner. Here in our place we could hardly find any rice served on the dinner table. We might get fried rice occasionally and this is the favorite dish of my hubby ... My hubby always tries to cook some noodle (rice product) to fill his empty stomach ... after back to home. It’s rather weird that he doesn’t gain any weight even he eats a lot. posting and take care.

hahaha.. it sure is a part of the filipino table setting.. i can barely eat any big meal without rice.. breakfast, lunch, and dinner.. these should have rice in the middle.. otherwise, i'd probably not enjoy my meal.. in fact, i sometimes even eat rice during "meryenda"!

Hi there jasonroselle! While rice is the staple food for majority of the Filipinos, others have found other alternatives to rice. In my case, I can actually eat a meal without rice. I would normally eat one full meal with rice and that is usually during the lunch time. I eat bread for breakfast and I eat fruits or some vegetable meal for dinner. I started to get used to it for about 3 years (or more) already.

My family have rice fro dinner everyday. We as the Asian, especially the SEA main food in our meal is rice. I eat rice since young and never stop for it. I love rice. No matter how it was cook. Porridge, Fried Rice, Lemang (Malay's tradition food which the rice is cook in a bamboo), Nasi Pulut (Rice that cook in banana leaves) and etc. Malaysia has lots of nice cooking rice style. I don't know other country have all these kind of choices or not, but if you come to Malaysia, you must try it

Well, Yes! uhm... Maybe. Perhaps, if rice is too expensive. I guess, bread or corn is a good alternative. But, to be honest I can't survive without rice. Hahaha! I'm a real filipino.

I have not had rice in several months. So yes, I can easily go a day without rice. Traditionally we do not use rice much where I am from - Norway. It used to be every dinner came with boiled potatoes. Now more and more use rice and pasta n some form. At my house we use neither much. We mostly eat vegetables for our warm meals. One a day. For our other meals we'll have yoghurt and berries, smoothies, some kind of hard bread or bread. most people here have bread for three out of four meals a day. We do not eat it that often at our house.
