Do you give your YM (or MSN) ID to other mylotters?

I started a discussion about the ideal age for marriage and one mylotter responded with his YM ID, telling me to stop waiting for my "Marvin" and just get hook up with him. I was not offended, I guess he was just joking and maybe it was just his style. I was just surprised though that it was that easy for him to broadcast his YM ID.
A while ago, another mylotter sent me a private message asking for my YM ID and he wasn't even in my mylot friends. Is this really happening here in mylot? I don't want to appear rude or snob to mylotters but I don't give my YM ID just like that. It's not that I don't want friends, I welcome new friendships, it's just that it doesn't seem right to be giving out stuff like that to someone who just popped out of your mailbox. I wonder if you have been chatting with your mylot friends too. I'm getting really curious about this. Thanks for sharing your responses! Would love to hear from you.

Just be kind and before you know it, you already have your friend's Yahoo! id. I mean it's all a matter of establishing rapport first. Asking for Yahoo! id may not be rude or something but it's kind of pointless. There are lots of social networking sites available.

I'm not actually asking for other's ID, but maybe I will when there's a need to. I'm not that "convinced" yet with those who asked for my ID, they seem kind, but maybe next time. Pointless! Huh! I'm sure you don't ask mylotters for their YM IDs, I respect your opinion.

Hi Joyce, I don't think your being a snob, I wouldn't give it to him either. I haven't shared my private contact info with anyone here but maybe if I get to know someone good enough I might be willing to. I guess it just depends on how comfortable I feel with said person.
Cheers, Tianna

Hi Tianna, thanks for justifying my action LOL! I know too that when the time comes I'll be comfortable with another mylotter, I'll be willing to give my MSN ID, for now, I'm looking around. Happy mylotting!

Until now i never give out my YM or MSN ID to a myLotter. No one asked from me and i don't give one. I seldom on my MSN, i only used it when my friend asked me to on it. Even if i on it, i will put it in a away/ busy mode.

Oh, you must be a very busy person. Anyway, that's your prerogative, others must respect that. Happy mylotting!

Huh! They didn't like the "You first" response? I guess they just want to take and never give LOL! But I'm sure you'll be willing to give your ID to those you at least "know" here in mylot. Good luck!

first my referal knows my YM id, and another guy on mylot, i give him my ID because i find them nice to me and very friendly, and one reason why i give it to them is for me to have an easy contact to them when i cant understand something from mylot, happy mylotting and welcome to mylot community...

Well, I'm sure the other guy must be really friendly for you to trust him, I'm not really sure about the guys who asked for my IDs, there's actually no way for me to know yet. Yes I think it's a good idea to have anyone to contact about mylot, but I think I'll stick with private messaging for now, I'll think about that though.
