Do you go on lots of picnics?

I was thinking of something today and for some reason my mind strayed onto picnics. I don't know why, but I suddenly realised that I have never been on a picnic, ever. If we go out for the day with the kids, it is usually a treat so we always have a meal out somewhere instead.
Do you go on regular picnics?
Where is your favourite place for a picnic and what sorts of food do you take in your picnic box/hamper thing?

Have you really never been on a picnic?! I don't go on a lot of them but in the summer me and my friends occasionally take a picnic to the beach and spend the day there playing games in the sand and just generally relaxing, it's always a really good day, i love the beach as being by the sea with all the fresh air and the enormity of the ocean helps me to clear my mind! We usually just take some sandwiches, crisps and something sweet for a treat, nothing too exotic!!! xxx

Actually yes I have but I forgot about it until someones response reminded me. I went once as a child and ate lunchmeat sandwiches, which is probably why I could not remember!

I'm like you. We usually eat out when we are out as a family. Once or twice we have packed a lunch, although I wouldn't consider it a picnic. A picnic would be with the blanket and all that.
Although if grilling counts as a picnic, we've done that quite a few times. There are some parks that offer charcoal grills, and you bring all the fixings and grill up some food. Just a few weeks ago we grilled burgers and hot dogs with some of the guys hubby works with. We called it a picnic.
Of course when ya say the word picnic you're thinking sandwiches in a basket, so the grilling didn't pop into mind right away, lol.

I was looking more at the basket of food picnic, I would call what you said a barbecue, and that is something else I have not had many of just lately either! I think when we go out for the day because we do not do it often it is just nice to go and have a meal somewhere nice and be waited on!

Although we go out almost weekly, we're really just too overwhelmed to plan a whole picnic. With trying to get all the kids organized and out the door... it's really too much hassle to plan a picnic.
Although, over the summer we did go to an amusement park, and packed a lunch to bring in order to save the bit of money we had to spend. No blanket or any of that, we just ate it in the parking lot, lol. But I guess that counts.

Oh, but a picnic is so much more fun, especially for the kids, along side a lake or in
a park. I have taken my kids on a lot of picnic when they were young. We used to live
about a ten minute walk to a big park in Winnipeg. So we usually took a ride, since
we had too much to carry, and took a picnic basket with us and sit by the river on a
blanket and eat our dinner.
We usually had dinner, or what some people call supper, at the park, when we did this,
because then we had more time than if we were just having lunch, unless it was on the
weekend. I would make something like fried chicken and potatoe salad. Or just sandwiches
sometimes and potatoe chips. Sometimes we would go to KFC or even McDonalds to pick the
food up, if I didn't have time to make something at home first, and still sit out on]
a blanket and eat.

I cant remember the last picnic I went on if I ever went on one. Could be way back in my childhood days when we lived in Cornwall.
I like sitting down eating and watching the world go by. I think they are relaxing and a great family time together.

I'd love to do more picnics but the moody weather is not the best most times.. We make most of the good summer days and go for a picnic at the weekend if the weather is nice:-D
I make sandwiches at home, carry some crisps, yogurt, water, a drink, mat to sit on and my digital camera to capture the moments
We do go on regular picnics most of the time like to the parks with my little gal or to the playgrounds. Occasionally we do something special, like last weekend, we were at the sea-side and that's been one of the best picnics so far

Yeah the weather is a bit of a party pooper when it comes to doing stuff outside. I love the seaside, but we have never taken a picnic with us on a day out, we usually just go in a cafe or something.

I love picnics. My ex and I used to often go and we would take the makings of a simple bbq with salad with us. We always had something like that in the fridge...even if it was only sausages. In the state we lived nearly all the parks had bbq facilities. Sometimes we would fish or we would do a bit of a bush walk. There was a huge park next to a dam near where we lived. We would sometimes go there for breakfast and just read the daily paper and enjoy the serenity. We liked to go to the beach as well or somewhere near the water. We would buy fish and chips and eat out of the paper and take our dog into the water to swim. We had some lovely times....very simple but really nice.

Good day... I have been to a few picnics in my life. With friends and families. It was refreshing and relaxing, perfect for bonding moments. Lately with work and career it seldom happens and had really missed it.

I don't like picnics. I'm a food lover. I eat with great satisfaction on the table, or I don't eat at all.
When I go out, on the mountains or somewhere else where there's no decent food, I just drink some water and waiting to go back to downtown for a big dinner.

Picnics are ok but they are getting to be a thing of the past im sure, many people who go out for the day will now just stop at the end of the day and have something to eat at a restaurant,or they will get a takeaway, this seems to be the preffered way now,but I like a picnic here,I like the sandwiches, with the sand in lol if you go to the beach, and the bags of crisps and the squashed bits of cake lol I have even tried to take individual desserts with me sometimes, but not too clever on a hot day.

The only times I ever went on picnics were the last day of school from fourth grade to 8th grade. On the last day of school our class would load up on a school bus and drive out to a park and all day we would play, run around and have a picnic with things everyone brought. After 8th grade my mom just let me stay home. I thought why not just let me skip that last day since we never did anything? At that age running around on the playground wasn't fun for me.

I have not been on a picnic in ages. I just do not have the time or energy since my husband and I both are working seven days a week right now. We stay worn out.

I wish, I miss my days of picnics. Where I am right now, there are not many places for a nice one
