BBC News reported that "According to the first national breakdown of callers, an average of 62 victims are phoning for help every week. One in 10 is under the age of 16. One 14-year-old girl said she was in fear of her life because she had become pregnant and thought her parents would kill her or marry her off if they found out." Here is a link to the article on BBC news. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/forced-marriages-the-trail-of-misery-and-fear-in-britain-942820.html How Britain and other countries can stop this phenomena of forced marriages? Are you in favour of forced marriages or not? Can forced marriages be successful?

NO a forced marriage can not be a success cause you are being made to fall in love with someone that someone chose for you to fall in love with and that is wrong. They need to get with the times. We no longer go outdoors to use the washroom and we no longer use horses to get around and we no longer need soemoen to pick who we want to be with. Kids worrying that they are going to be made to marry is horrible and sick. Some people dont' even want to marry and they shoudl nto ahve to. I dont' want to get married cause I want to enjoy life and I feel I am to young right nwo. When I fall in love with the person I want to be with then I will think about marriage and maybe I will never marry at all and that should be my choice and no one elses. We dont' all like the same people so our parents can not choose who we want to marry cause they are going to to choose who they like and kids dont often like the same people there parents do. I am glad I do not live there and woudl take off for sure cause no one should have this much power over anybody in life.

I can't believe it's happening in britain and i'm not in favor of forced marriages there. for me marriage is a decision established by both man and woman to live together as husband and wife by legal committments and religious ceremonies. meaning is was a freely decision of giving oneselves to another with love. so how can it be successful if you don't feel love to the one you are marrying... very disgusting... i pity those parents who forced their children to marry.

I don't know if a forced marriage could or would work in these days and times or not. Most might end up in divorce. I mean a forced marriage can go two ways. They either fall in love later or hate each other explicitly. I know I would hate to have my marriage partner picked for me. I would fight it. Thank goodness it is our choice nowdays atleast in some places. Being forced to marry someone you don't love or like gives new meaning to the ball and chain saying because it would be just like being in a prison of unhappiness.

We have entered the new century .The new century means that personal rights should be respected ,including the right to marry with a person or not .As long as we deal with our marriage with the permit of the law and virtue,no one has the right or power to stop us . Of course ,although we've got so many rights ,we should take advices of our parents and friends. What'more ,we have to be responsible for what we have done.

In my opinion 'no' there shouldn't be forced marriages..it takes two to tango and if the result is a baby from it then it should be up to the two involved how they want to deal with situation...and they should have the support of family and friends with the decision they make...littleowl

Hi ronaldinu, In the U.K we do not allow that to happen in our normal society but it the imergrants and their religion that is doing these things, whe hen they come to our country they should abide our law and not their own, to think forcing young gils to marry or kill them what sort of people are they? the British govenment should put a stop to all this happening in Britain or deport them back to their own country.

Well here in Kuwait we always have a marriage which an arrange with our Parents and some of them they learn to love the woman in which it is a Mother of his children but I always believe and still believe that it is still better to marry a woman whom you Loved so that you could fight for your feeling until the end because children is not a reason to stay......

No, because it has nothing to do with intimacy between two people. just the agreement and paper enforced by the parents.

Again because of the culture it will be difficult to get a consensus I certainly do not agree with forced marriages and my daughter or whatever would not be chastized or scolded but i would support her even though i would be very disappointed I doubt that any marriage without love is successful if you have the same meaning of successful as I have Good Luck

Hi ronaldinu, I am totally opposed to forced marriage and have always felt that way. It will likely either end in divorce or make a very unhappy and abusive relationship, perhaps both. Some parents are more concerned with maintaining their own image than about the welfare of their child. Blessings.

I don't think you should be forced to get married.. IT isn't about love then and that's what a marriage is all about, isn't it ? Have a nice day..
