Up there, I would consider the recent Flash Gordon Tv show as up there. The acting is bad and there are many things wrong with it, as the aliens are so stupid, and with all his power, why did not Ming have an army or the ability to shoot hot lightening towards EArth? He was like a mini tyrant, and the people there could speak perfect English. I mean the science fiction shows are getting worse. The only good ones are the ones that they import from another network when they are cancelled like Prey or ones that they import from another network because they are so popular that the watcher does not want to miss an episode, like LOST and Supernatural.
There were good ones, like Battlestar Galactica. I think the reason is that the Science Fiction Network is so afraid of offending the politically correct crowd, so they made Ming Caucasian to not offend the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, or Mongolians and they gave Flash a very black friend to not offend the African American and they made his mother hardly at home to not offend the feminists.
I guess they did not want to offend the marathon racers, so they made Flash a long distance runner.
So what is on your worse Science Fiction move list?

The same one that I think was the best was also the worst. hehe. "It was the best of shows, it was the worst of shows"
Sliders...in the 90's this show came out and I was captivated by it. Then enters season 4 and the cast for the most part changes when they move from network tv to the scifi channel.
The first 3 season were some of the best scifi I have ever seens as far as plot and acting, and effects but still making it seem like it could really happen. When they moved to Scifi channel all the changed. Script, cast, plot, acting ALL went WAY down hill.
The show originally starred. John Rhys-Davis, Jerry O'Connell, Sabrina Lloyd and Cleavant Derricks (who stayed with the show through the end)

I liked the original Sliders but it got worse, so I stopped watching it. I guess they decided to cheapen things down a bit. It really hurts when they do that to shows, make a good one into crap. I liked John Rhys-Davis in it.

I like John, besides I am part Welsh. And he is a classy guy. I do not have the Sliders set on DVD. I want to get Battlestar Galactica but I am waiting until it is finished. I hate to get a show and then find out that the writers decided to kill off most of the good guys as in Andromeda, and let the bad guys survive. Or they decide to kill a perfectly good show.

I have season 1-3 on DVD. They are all pretty good. I watched all the others, but it seemed like I was always on the edge of throwing up to know that someone can take something SO good and make it SO bad.
I though John really made the show stand out. He added the class to the show.

We have Space 99 instead of the Sci Fi channel (have to get permission from CRTC to get it on our cable) up here, and we finally got Flash Gordon on it, and I was expecting so much better. Most of what we get are Star Trek, Andromeda, and Star Gate- both kinds reruns and new shows. Oh and we get Supernatural as well as some other channels featuring creatures such as vampires, were wolves, denizens of the underworld, etc. But good news we now get to see LOST five days a week.

The movie was good, but it is the 2007 Tv series that is getting bad reviews. I saw the black and white ones, and I can understand that they were not that good. We did not have all those special effects then so you can understand. But now we have them, we got computer animation, blue screen, etc. and we can make it look like we actually went to Mongo to film it. But then they had to use clay figures, and what they had then.

Science fiction is fun when you get a very good show and they usually last a while. It is when someone tries to please all people or is afraid of offending anyone or cuts corners (remember Plan 9 from Outer Space_ the worse Science Fiction Horror movie of all time?) and hire the most inept actors you can find, then you get a bomb. So at least you will learn what not to watch here.

You can say that for Plan Nine from Outer Space. it made the worse movie list. The best Science fiction movie was War of the Worlds. It had a religious message because the "Martians" were killed by God who caused the germs that caused colds to defeat them.

I did think Flash had its truely bad moments. Now, Flash was an athelete in the orginal stories - he might've been a runner, don't know.
I felt like they "cheaped" out by spending most of the time on Earth and making the Doctor young instead of old.
Now, when the original story cast Ming the Merciless there was some major fears about the Orientals, and rather than feed on the new fear of China, I can forgive them making Ming occendental.
No, Flash, for all its flaws, was totally drawfed by the truely awfulness of "Tremors."

The Flash movie was all right, but in the movie he was a football player and in the Tv show that was not mentioned. They could have at least showed that he was a major football star and had come back to his home town, etc. But they cheaped it on a TV show and they added the black friend to be politically correct. And they could have made Ming to have dark hair, I think they were feeding on the Neo Nazi White Supremist movement in the Tv show. And leads to many questions, one is is Flash really related to Ming and is Ming a transplanted earth man? At least when they had Ming as an Oriental, at least you knew he was an alien. After all, had the film been made by Chinese they would have made him Occidental, but it was made in America.
And they made them almost like transplanted Earth men. I did see Tremors. Did not like it either.

I saw the movies and they were campy, but I expected that, but I never saw the tv show. I do hope they improve Flash and do more special effects so you do not feel that you are on another Earth. It seems this cheapness is even spoiling the good tv shows like Stargate Atlantis. Yes I used to live in British Columbia and I recognize those areas where they made the shoots.
And I definitely know they are not on another planet especially the planet Mongo.

Have you ever watched Dr. Who? It's a British show that's been going for decades and quite entertaining. I haven't watched it lately but I used to love it. It's cheaply done and campy but it thrives on that and doesn't pretend to be sophisticated. It's just good, fun science fiction/fantasy with some suspense thrown in for flavor.

I loved Dr. Who. Used to watch it all the time. I have not watched the new one except for one episode. It was not as good as the old one. It was campy and fun. And the Dr. Who went to all these different times and places.
