each one of us has a place a slot in the setup called family. at times the main person the bread winner has the prime place and the most important place and in other families it is not the same. inspite of being the bread winner you do not gain that place since there are other seniors who may not be the bread winners but occupy the prime spot what is your position in the family dear friends!!

I am everything in my family. But then again, my family is very small. I am Priestess, Confident, Physician, Psychologist, Mediator, Accountant, ATM Machine, Head Chef, Receptionist, Party Planner, Organizer, Event Co-Ordinator, Lover, Friend, Mother Confessor and so many more. All this in addition to my job as a restaurant/bar promoter. Yikes! LOL What is your spot juhi06?

I am a daughter, cousin, granddaughter, niece. Sometimes I really feel high-pressured because I am supposed to take care of my seniors and support them when they get older.

Lol... I'm the MOM! I'm the one who gets to worry about everything, make sure the bills are paid, make sure the kids are okay and the boyfriend has everything he needs. I get to cook, clean and do laundry. I would probably call my position the keystone, as I'm the one who keeps everything from falling down on us all! But, that's what a MOM is!

I agree miller23231. Mums are the Keystone to any family. Ruler. What is that saying...something like, "If Mum's not happy, no one is happy." LOL

My position in the family?---the daughter and mom. So I'm important to the family. when they are unhappy, I would comfort them; when they want to discuss something, I would be with them; When they want to talk, I talk with them. In short, when they need me, I'll be with them.

I've play a very important role in my own family because I am the mother of 3 kids. Aside for being a mother I am their friends. A shoulder to cry on of every one. They call mother as a light of home, yes that is true. If I'm absent or going to somewhere for overnight or days, the persons I left was in random and missing me and feeling of they don't know what to do if I'm away. And I play also a bank for them. So many roles and character. Most of them are dependent to me even my husband. He said how he gonna be handle every thing if I'm gone. It was hard to be far away that is why I never go abroad. We always want to be in each other arms if ever.

Well, my household isn't what you would call traditional. We are 3 single women living in a house. The eldest is the newest arrival. I'm second oldest - but the house was bought by my parents so I am probably the only one who really matters in the fuctioning of the household. I don't abuse that tho, and I will listen to the other roommates, but the new roomie doesn't say much, but she b*tchs sometimes. Well, honestly, I had to lay out to her the finances of the house, that if she were paying rent here she'd be facing $550 or $600. She wanted to pay a bill even tho we didn't ask her to. So she kind of faced our wrath when she hadn't payed that bill and we were threatened with disconnection of the services. The other roomie makes lots of suggestions and I take a lot of them, but there have been a few things I just didn't see working. So, I try to make the household more of a democracy but there are times when I have to say - we are going to do this or no, we aren't going to do that.

I am telling you I am really taken with your question. It got me sit back for a while and think about it. Then I realize I don't really have a place in the family! When I was still a student I used to think taking home the highest award from the school is enough for my Papa to be proud of me. I was thinking too that obeying everything he says will at least give me a prime spot in the family. I was wrong then. Now that I'm living separately, the more I've lost a place in the family. My parents can afford to live for themselves, they don't really need their children's financial assistance. The fact is, they've even helped me and my sisters in the past even if we've been married and were living separately, that was really embarrassing! But that wasn't what I envisioned. I was thinking that at my age I could have given all that my parents wanted. I guess I failed.
