People who don't use transportation

While watching a segment of a morning show about hobos the idea came to me for this discussion. I suppose that every town has at least one eccentric person who does not use any form of transportation. Going back to when I was a child I can remember a man named Fred who was famous for no other reason than that he walked everywhere. His appearance was scruffy, and now that I think about it he was not an old man. He would appear in our community a couple of times each year and would sometimes accept a meal if it was offered to him. I don't believe he had any particular destination in mind, he was just walking. During this same period there was an older man who would travel many miles because he loved church "basket dinners." This was a tradition in the south where once each year the members of a church would all bring food and break bread together in an outdoor setting. Moving ahead to the present time, there is a woman who lives in my community that has walked for as long as I can remember. People have been known to offer her a ride, but she always refuses. Neither will she use public transportation. I am a fan of the Rex Stout series of novels about Nero Wolfe, the famous fictional detective. He exhibited this eccentricity -although I can remember a couple of times he did ride in a car strictly for an emergency situation. Do you know of anyone, local or otherwise, who will not use any form of transportation?

Well, I haven't actually heard of any person like the onne whom you mentioned. But I know of one person - if you have responded to my discussion of Do you have anyone whom you trust the most... you would have known the person about whom I am talking. That Math tutor of mine walks around all the place, and hardly uses his bikes. Well, he does have a fixed destination always, and never leaves a place to end-up anywhere....
Wait, I hope I haven't misunderstood the topic... If I have, then enlighten me with the current thing.
Continuing, that person doesn't like to use maximum transportation, however he is the most well-organized, far-sighted, quick person I have seen. Most of the time, he doesn't waste any time... and since he comes from different city he daily travels to our city by train, but in our city, he never uses any transportaion. He has fixed the time as such....he would reach the tuition place within enough time.. His friends(our other subject tutors) also are similar... they travel all around in the city on their two legs, but never on any kind of transportation system. It happens so that they only travel in different cities by train, and that's all.

Hi worldwise,
Over the years, I have seen people walking to all their destinations. There was a guy that had a serious limp that walked all over town. I was told he preferred to walk because it halped his limp. Other people told me he could get himself into a vehicle because of some trauma he had been through at an early age. He has passed on now.
There was the bag lady that walked around. She was an eccentric. She was always polite to people around her, but she walked to her destinations as well. She would say, the Lord thinks I should be walking to improve myself.
There is a guy that is walking around now that does not accept rides from anyone. He walks about a 20 mile radius on a daily basis, if not more. I seen him on my way to work, and a family member will see him 5 miles away an hour later. He seems to go someplace to sleep at night. The next morning he is out and about again.
Have a nice day..
