have you ever started a topic and found that someone has already started it?!

With over 145,000 members I'm amazed that any one can come up with a totally new subject to start a discussion about. One can search and search a subject and unless you have the title exact you can'r find a discussion about a subject. I'm sorry that you got abused for your discussion. Starting a discussion about a topic that has already been written about but with a different angle shouldn't be cause for abuse. but some people are just that way. 'Be kinder than necessary; for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Yes it happened to me once. I still remember the day, it was 9th September and there was a terrifying news that due to the LHC, the world was going to end on 10th September. I started a topic with full information about it, hoping nice results, but later found that a lady had already started it and had already received about 40 responses. Only if I had been a little fast, I would have created a nice topic with 50+ responses since I provided more information. I received just 5 responses.

Dont be down about it because It nearly impossible to watch this because you do not get similar discussion until after you post and even with a search that is not guaranteeing you exact results and another discussion like yours could be on the very last page of your search results. When your in the moment and feel like you found something interesting to discuss, you do not want to deal with all that.

It happens. Right now, there are over 145,000 members here. We're bound to think of the same things. Besides, the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 1:9, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Our search system here also doesn't always pick up the items that we're searching for. I think that unless it's obvious that a person copied another person's post about a topic, it shouldn't really matter.

nope i have never experienced such topics before but ofcouse will put forth that you and some other persons have same ideologies so just be in a quick grasp and put the topics fast before you find the same on the lot

Yes ,that has ever happened to me.Humans maybe sometimes think alike.when you found that someone has already start the same idea ,you must to feel glad .because someone has the same idea with you,you can share and discuss.

Yep that happens to me a lot. And I think it happens to a lot of people its very hard to make a discussion thats unique here since there so many people on my lot which is why I dont make to many discussions since I could probally find 5 or 10 people that made the same discussion.

I searched for my topic, didn't find it, so started a discussion. After I hit the button to post it, I find that there are a couple of others just like it! I was embarrassed and wondering why my search didn't turn up the discussions. My friends helped out and replied anyway, even though one of them had answered one of the other ones, and people were very nice. I felt a bit stupid, though.

Yes I already did. That person who created same topic told me and he even participate to the discussion I made the same with his. It was funny. It is not your fault if that things happened. There are lot of people here in mylot and it is just a coincidence that topics can be the same. If you find something the same topic as yours, just participate.

Ya manytimes it happened with me unknowingly. I will feel that I should have searched for similar discussion before starting that. But OK, since mylotters are just busy and don't take out time to search for older discussion and respond, let it be. But I get responses from a moderate number of friends.

I have started a topic and later saw that someone else posted the same one. I dont feel bad. I think that it happens often on here. There are so many people on mylot that there is bound to be poeple that start the same discussions. As long as it is no done intentionally. Have a nice day!

Yes sometimes it did happen that I start a new topic and I found similar topics. Because people think in the same way sometimes, many people might get the same kind of questions to their minds as we get. Hence,,we find that the questions are already there, then i do reframe my question and start the discussion, or just drop that discussion. Or if i wanted an answer again start it, It all depends on how do you want your discussion to be and whether you want people to really respond to it. Many of the topics these days here look like similar topics only, it is not only me who find it like this but many who have observed the discussions know that many of the discussions here are related and similar.

First of all i donot post discussions but only respond But i imagine with thousands and thousands of discussions that are similar is to be expected and i am not surprised I mind add your discussion is not deleted because it is the same topic as another Deletions happen when a discussion is a few words long ,responses can be in one and two words and money making sites are the discussions that are deleted I have more things to be worried about Good Luck

yeah it happened with me today itself. I started a new discussion about favourite WWE superstar and found that there were already 2 topics with the same names... i think there should be sumthing called Search discussion option, to prevent this kind of thing. ;) ;) ;)

Well, in reality, this actually happens here more often than one would think. I know that with all of the many people that are actively posting in here, not everyone can think about different things all of the time, and want to post them here as well. A lot of times especially when someone is Newer in here they will post a lot of the same things that someone else has posted in here either as asking a question, or just posting something not knowing someone else has posted about it already on here as well. I know for me, it happens all of the time even with discussions I choose to start as well. All you can do is post what you are thinking about, and go from there. Unless you are deliberately copying and pasting or posting something someone else has already said, usually there are no real problems in here as well.

It happens a lot, I mean we all face the same interest and problems in our life, where else could we get the inspiration for our topic? but sometimes I feel offended when one of my topic was the same with someone but I never let it out, It was just natural and when I started a topic but found out something made a similar one, maybe I will just say something to the author or maybe not.

hi milanovich. it happened once with me and i learned about it when i got a response from one of the readers that she started one like mine but she didn't mind at all and i am happy she didn't think i copied her. the topics here in my lot are very much changing even in a span of one minute and its hardly one can notice that someone has already started about it a month ago unless it be told. if somebody starts again, then maybe she thought about it just like when i did.

I do experience it that my discussion is already being ask, but i am glad the i have more responses than the first poster who got very few response only about 3 responses and i got twenty plus responses if im not mistaken. I have experience it also the my discussion is being posting again after two days of posting it. Still i participate to his disscussion and i tell him that i have the same discussion like him. I post the link so that he can compare it. And luckily i got twice in number of responses i got 36 while he got 18. It feel so good at that moment. Have a nice day.

It never happen to me but things like that often happen specially that some might have common interest or views. So posting a topic that is the same with other members is no longer unusual.

It may be possible for existence for a topic you just posted . But May be MyLot dont have check on these similar type of topic . happy myloting
