man on a bridge

hey everyone..had a question..maybe not the most pleasant but, none the less, its something i have thought of. On one side of you there is a man on a bridge about to jump and take his life, on the other side of you, there is a bus full of people about to crash. If you had to choose on which situation you could prevent which would it be? Would you save the man on the bridge and leave the bus load of people to crash, or would you save the bus load of people leaving the man to jump? myself... i would save the bus load of people

This is a very curious situation indeed. For me it depends on two factors. First, Who is the man, second who's on the bus. It's sad to say but there are people in the world who may be better off not living; i hope that's not being too judgemental. Now, assuming a completely anonymous situation, that is, I don't know either of the following, I would also save the bus over the man given that I cannot save them both. good question :D

I see your point Mcgm..i also believe in natural selection myself..perhaps that makes me a cold person..not sure.. if the bus is full of some 'nasty' criminals on their way to jail or court house..i am not so sure i would be inclined to help save their life..on the other hand, if the man on the bridge is jumping because he just committed some horrific crime..well, then..all teh power to him, hope he can fly.

thank you for your comment batth_geet yes i have to agree..i think the only thing one can do in that situation is pray for the gent and hope his 'pain' now has ended

i would try to save both of them if possible but if there was no option i would maybe help the people on the bus but i would feel guilty for not saving the other mans life.

i agree with you, if i could, i would help them all. I always thought i would always be there to help anybody i could..it took having this question asked to me that made me realize..no matter how much we would like to help everyone..sometimes,we just cant thank you for your comment :)

I would say I will save the bus. But when it comes to real, how can I save the lot of people as they are in the bus. If it was going to crash, my energy can't save them. I am just thinking what are the ways to save them. If I had the strength to save them, I will choose the bus., or else I will take no action as I can't change the mind of a person who is taking his life. It was very difficult to do change their thoughts.
